  1. Is someone playing this on the Northern scene then?
  2. Nice voice, nice production, but to me it just sounds like a pretty pedestrian average crossover tune. I can't imagine it would have been earmarked as an 'A' side. Each to his own though.
  3. I used to have one but I gave it away as I had the 12", Doh!!
  4. That looks like it would have been a cracking night.

John Washington - Daddy Teddybear. Small Society on Cadde. Both of these fell dramatically in price after I'd bought them.

Yes, is he selling the actual Al Dos record with a stick on cover up label, or is he selling a moody carver for the very reasonable price of £400?

I never knew there was a big find of Montclairs. I know it's not a real rareity because it was such a sizeable local hit, but I never knew of a quantity find.
  8. My choices as well Steve. I would have snapped both of those up if i'd got the money.

Whatever it started at. I first remember Henry Atkinson having it and it was a big, big rareity. Then when stock was found ithe price came down and down, and with the confusion and rumours of boots/re-presses, people seemed to lose confidence in the record. Now though, it seems to be be making a resurgence which I'm glad about as it's a killer tune.

Yes, i remember when I first heard the Codfather play this in Dudley last century, what a record, I never thought I'd own a copy, until the the batch was found and then it was possible.

Although this does seem to be creeping back up in value and desireability.
  12. This is so good, I wish it was on a 45. Lovely set of tunes there TSU.

The reason I ask is because the original is very rare and goes for hundreds. It is on a very rich, dark red glossy label.
  14. Great record. I've never seen an issue though. I reckon you'll need to pay quite a bit more than £40 to get a copy.

Is this one of the recentish re-issues that JD did himself?
  16. Thank you Greg but I could do without any more reasons to want this 45.
  17. It's funny, the 'It Comes and it goes' side sounds really classic black, deep soul, but my favourite side is the flip 'Whatcha gonna do' where he sounds a lot lighter in voice, not unlike Little Anthony. They could be two different singers to my ears. Great 45 though.

    Yep, nice price.
  19. Track 4 is JW McGee LP track. "You Bring out the best in me."
  20. Absolutely fantastic artwork. They'd make a great series of posters.
  21. Possibly my favourite version. Horns, horns, horns.

What about the version on Balja, that's a real belter when it gets going.
  23. The last one is Wizdom - So in love with you" on Drive.
  24. Fabulous tune and a right bargain for someone.
