Led Zeppelins record collection
Robert Plant loved his 60's soul . i remember a radio interview, when he visited Manchester many years later, he referenced the Twisted wheel , asking where it had gone ? you'll find lots of the 60's 'rockers/beat boys' were soul music fans. good taste 😉

Worst Experience ever visiting an All Nighter,
Clifton hall, trying to find the venue (3 of us in a MK3 Cortina). when suddenly a naked woman ran into the road (true story)... we stopped, she jumped in, no questions. we panicked, the woman started to put her clothes on, when a gang of bikers came out of a house, running towards us. we booted it out of there down the road, she composed herself, clearly shed been attacked, not sure to what extent. finally we asked if she was ok, to which she replied she was. THEN she asked us where we were going, we said Clifton hall, to which her response was, to jump out of the car whilst it was still moving. that spooked us then, still vivid now. another time,. Brit club, waiting for the train to wigan oldies anniversary. i went downstairs to the toilet, when i was approached by some big meat head, determined i was gonna buy some gear off him. i was persistent, but he was getting quite aggressive, when suddenly , the door burst open, knocking him over and the bouncer giving him a good hiding. we got out of there, straight on to the coach.... which incidentally was on a snowy january. we made progress north, to see a sign that said "Wigan 10 miles". the coach driver was worried coz of the snow and decided to pull over at a phone box. a few minutes later, he returned to the coach to tell us that we were turning back. believe you me, we weren't impressed. that was until a big Notts miner type bloke, "insisted" he drive to wigan, or he would be thrown in the luggage compartment and someone else would drive the fu****g thing. needless to say, we got there. anyway, thats my stories of dodgy nights. the 'Blockheads' on Crewe station, is for another day 😉

Wigan Casino 50th Anniversary and Soul Festival 6

worth every penny. shame i couldn't be in 5 places at once. the atmosphere was quite incredible, the music didn't disappoint .. biggies, forgotten , good, not so good. but it didn't matter. it was a joy to witness 1000's of people in each (massive) room, filling dance floors like they should. the Mecca reunion was rammed, the Spanish hall (Mr M's) was just magical. Messer's Cain, Rigby, Evison etc. were wonderful. as KR said after the final record. "The best weekender I've ever been to"- 2 comments

Emotional, exhausting, fabulous ! anybody who didnt go, will never know the atmosphere or vibe, that went on over the weekend. i had to leave early sunday morning, but i really wish id stayed for the last session. The records, the memories, the people, the venue... absolutely spectacular !! i wont forget my weekend in a hurry . being in the dedicated Mr M's room, was just wonderful, messers Evison, Cain , Rigby, etc etc, take a bow gentlemen. i welled up in there, i'm serious. it was way better than i expected. the rooms were huge, which allowed a massive amount of dancers and observers alike, into each venue. a catch up with folks i've not seen forever, plus travelling with my lifelong soul friend, made it even more special. thank you all.- 2 comments

Sound quality at iconic nighters
me too !! Stafford oldies room (downstairs disco) had a fantastic sound system. Grosvenor rooms does too. most are pretty ropey at best. its down to the guy who sets it up, i suppose. Monaco nr wigan, had a woefully inadequate PA, far too small , it absolutely screamed, got so hot, they had individual fans behind each powered speaker. . Winding wheel, chesterfield, had a massive sound system, insanely loud, but clear. I remember Brian Rae's old columns, on stage in Mr M's, in hindsight, really not big enough, but in those days, we didnt care. theres the thing , big , with lots of headroom, is the key. not pushed to limits
