  1. Phew....thanks. A fiver was a lot of money back then:) Top sound indeed. Ed
  2. I had an original Sam Moultrie...or so I thought. Cant remember that blue bit on it? Only paid a fiver, so if I got done, it was not too bad. Ed
  3. Must have been great. Went a few times, but after 78. Was this the first nighter to openly call it Northern Soul in its adverts or was that much earlier somewhere else? Ed
  4. A sign of the Times. YouTube on the Fridge.. Ed

RIP Roy Memories of the fair coming to town as a young un, when this got blasted out. Ed
  6. 6 brilliant tracks Great work. Ed
  7. Not sure if using the iconic name is a blessing or a curse for the new talent. This girl has a nice enough voice: I guess any investment to make good soul music is welcome. Ed
  8. Another great has gone. RIP Edna. A touch of Venus is a real anthem. Ed
  9. A sweet soul singer, but just a bit "lightweight" for my taste. Maybe as she is older she should re record her best tracks if her voice has deepend...just m h o. I do like this though. Ed
  10. Always puzzles me when 4 artists make a version of a song and they all bomb. Jimmy for me. Has it all. Ed
  11. August 2020 had one more kick in the teeth. Good riddance. RIP Sammy. Your legacy will live on and on. Ed
  12. Just thinking about this today. 76 77 all those girly poppy soul tunes like the flirtations, sapphires, Paula Durante, Dena Barnes, Poppies, Jeanette Harper, Etc really drew me into the scene. However this lockdown has produced more free time to research stuff on line, and the results have been great. So many quality tunes I'm just discovering now. Ed
  13. What a life....100mph all the way. Hope the new album takes off. Ed
  14. Should make a film out of it.. So 1967 the term Northern Soul was created...that's about 4 years earlier than I had imagined. Ed
  15. I wonder how much my signed by Frank "pressing " is now worth? Paid Kev Roberts ten quid for it and got it as a momento from meeting Mr Wilson (RIP )at the LA2004 gig, to compliment my bar menu he signed for me. If you stand 3 feet away, and its a not too bright dj stage, you can't tell its a re issue:) Its got to have doubled in value.... Ed
  16. Well August 2020 is becoming a real awful month for soul music. RIP Mr Hamilton. Ed
  17. RIP Mr Ragland. This record is one of 50 I could not let go when I sold my collection....his vocal range was magnificent, and his legacy will live on and on. Ed
  18. Really enjoyed that...thanks. Bought baby huey in 77 off an ex mecca dweller...never heard it out before! Ed
