  1. Nice to note that Tommy will be 80 this year !
  2. Each to his own, ironically as i sit in what used to be my "record" room, before the thieving B****ds stole my collection, I am looking as Blues and Souls Nos 1 to 300 here on the floor, I think it lost its way when Disco appeared and when they went "Weekly" to compete with (Black) Echoes ... Also the burger vans a copy...Mark Bicknell had his first !¬ Rob
  3. Could be Debbie Dee ? She's a fantastic dancer away from "The Scene" as well... Rob
  4. LOL just as I posted the link appeared Thanks !
  5. You got a buyers link to who's selling them please ?
  6. :thumbsup:Tell him to F**k off
  7. Agree Terry 4 Seasons every time ! -Timebox is a straight copy- but crossed into the Scene via Mod / Scooter exposure and the scene likes a nice UK issued rarity ! But Kev is reflecting on Dance floor reaction on todays scene and its a PACKER where ever you go ! Rob
  8. Hi Pete Glad I saw this was only thinking about you the other day and wondering when you'd be around. keep your chin up pal and you have a lot of mates who are missing you Rob
  9. I was on a train from Swinton last year and one of the "dancers" at the Blue Minx tried to dodge her fare --£2.35 by offering the conductor a £50 note, he said ok but she could get her change from Sheffield booking office in the morning--she soon found the right money ! Another one bites the dust is the Carpet Warehouse still there
  10. Not the "Blue Minx" Lap dance club anymore then Martin--are you sure you are not getting mixed up with Canklow ?
  11. "‹At the time of building in the 1930s Brid Spa was deliberately built with EUROPE'S largest sprung Ballroom dance floor . I am reliably told the previous holder was Blackpool Winter gardens. Brid must still be the UKs largest permanent Dance floor, plus since renovation the floors are continuous throughout the building as well. I saw Oasis at Brid Spa and there were 3,500 people in the room, mainly on the dance floor in front of the stage. Largest crowd at Prestatyn was 3,750 but when the acts were on they were crammed in everywhere, record bar, those 700 seat at the back and on the carpeted areas down either side-- its a big floor but possible only 2/3 rds the size of the Spa.... Rob

  17. FROM FACEBOOK By PIDDY I open my heart to say a massive THANK YOU, to each and everyone of you who attended to say goodbye to Gary. To see you all, really overwhelmed. (But to be honest, I didn't see many). I am so sorry I didn't get to thank you in person, because I know a lot of you travelled many miles, but the pain in my heart just wouldn't let me. The Canal Tavern holds so many soulful happy memories in Gary's life, young and old. The music, the people, the laughter, that was Gary, and I just wanted to hold them to myself. We have laughed over many years (36) about the tales he has told me of you all, (and some shared). School and college days. His work and contracting days, (now there's some I cannot tell). His Friday night drinking mates, his fun boys trips away to Wembley, Ostend and Lloret. And finally, the music scene, which he loved so much, 40 years of D.J'ing and buying records. (By we've been to some grotty and good venues over the years). I would like to say some extra special thank you's. To Gary's family and dear friends, who helped me with Gary's final farewell, I will always remember them. To Father Augustine O'Reilly, the mass was lovely and very heart warming. To the Canal Tavern and Staff who has always gone that extra mile for Gary. The care and warmth of Armitage Funeral Directors. Thank you to those who donated. Total £709.26 which has gone to the Brain Injury Group in Goole (T.L.U). And a final big thank you to my dear children, our little Meggie Moo. You are all my rock. God Bless you all. Piddy/Ronnie/Veronica xxx
