Drill holes in records
Spot on Rick ! I might add that small local labels would often leave a 25 count box at their local distributors on release, sale or return, so if shops asked for them (ie the record being heard on local radio) the distributor would have the stock. Most cases these records wouldn't sell, so after a set period of time, if the records hadn't been collected by the owner the distributors would have a clear out, using the drill hole as proof they hadn't been sold at full price. Melvin Davis tells the story of "Find a quiet place" on Wheel City, a 500 pressing run. He took the records around shops and distributors in Detroit but the record flopped locally, he says "It would have cost more in Gas than the records were worth to fetch them back !" Hindsight is a marvellous thing ! Rob

There's not a week goes by without some "Common" record hitting dizzy heights these days..... makes you wonder how much the "Proper" rarities are worth !!!- tony galla - jms auction result
Now Souler, this really depends on what sort of dog you had and how much impact the chewing had making the item rarer. you don't state whether the record was on Wand or Strata. A ball park figure for this rare example, assuming your dog was a pedigree breed, has to be in the upper 3 figures, if there is lots of saliva could be reaching the 4 figure mark. However if your dog was of dubious parentage I would say the records is worthless, although most price guidelines have a specific grading system in the glossary to cover all mishaps to rare records. Particularly when the authors have a copy for sale. Rob- Re-imagining Northern Soul History
Sadly delusional as ever, probably uttered in the same sentences as "There were no drugs at Wigan casino" and "I have an original copy of Frank Wilson" Rob- Sad News Phil Salt ( SALTY ) R.I.P

Great to hear from you Lorraine ! x- Anderson Brothers - I Can See Him Loving You
It took me nearly 39 years from first hearing this to get an original (Demo)copy, the waiting for it to arrive from the USA nearly killed me ! I always loved it. Played it several times now I have an original copy, in various DJ spots and the reaction has been mixed dance floor wise, however I think its building up to a reactivation on the scene in general, I think some of the "Newbies" have never heard it, despite claiming to be there "In the day"! Funnily enough it was requested Saturday night at North Wingfield, I was in two minds whether or not to play it and even commented to Pete Taylor it might "Clear the floor", he said its a great record play it ! Fantastic reaction to it ! Love the new info surfacing on the back ground to the track, keep it coming Andy Rix ! Rob- Pete Wakefield R.I.P
