  1. Just seen another crazy sale on Ebay - Donald Lee Richardson on a dodgy White promo Soulville 45, with incorrect release number, £54 !!
  2. COMEDY SALE - Just seen a bootleg BITS 'N PIECES ' Keep on running away ' sell for £72 on the Bay, 22 bids, W H Y ? Obviously loads of Johnny come lately types out there without a clue - get wised up, lots and lots of great lesser known / forgotten / bargain Soul 45's out there on Ebay / Musicstacks, etc....and many on, wait for it, the Original US issue !!!
  3. Hi Derek , I too have been out digging, I only managed to find three worms, a rusty old can, and some old animal bones (all in my back garden). LOL. jez.
  4. Not many would beat ' Girl I love you ' / ' It rained 40 days and nights ' - Garland Green !
  5. The record is ' IT'S BAD ' - IKE NOBEL on Alley records
  6. Def released as a UK Motown 45, TMG40757, blue/white design label, I have one, think it actually came out without a lot of people really noticing at the time, don't see many about at all ?
  7. Could well be, actually remember a mate buying a mint copy at a Peterborough record fair around 1990 for £1 !
  8. And why are so many ' Soul Collectors ' obsessed with getting 60's 45's on UK issues / Demos .... if a great (or not so great) track was recorded and released in Chicago, Detroit, or whatever, surely that is the truest and most original recording to obtain as a proper appreciation of top 60's Soul, on the 1st US release ?!?
  9. You would never have to spend a fortune to own either of these as original releases, D. Banks on US Revilot 1st press (actually the TRUE original) very cheap and quite plentiful on Ebay, and the Timi Yuro is found on the LP ' Something bad ' on UK Liberty, an original 60's item that comes up sometimes for an affordable sum (mine cost me £6 from a record fair).
  10. Had this 45 in mid to late 70's, i think it came from Soul bowl, mine was def a white label promo, wouldn't have been booted, no great demand at any time, surely ?
  11. Because we can, and we like to ... what other reason would come remotely close ?? love, Jez.
  12. Wife has gone out for the evening, so the Technics system is getting cranked up, helped by a very conservative !! dribbling of alcoholic beverages. Spinning mainly 70's-80's tonight :- Heywood Cash - You're messing up a good thing (Epic) David Ruffin - Discover me (UK T Motown) Street People - I wanna get over (Spring) Bobby Jonz - Thought you were lovin me (Expansion) Jay Poole - I love you (Mable) D Train - Walk on by (Prelude) Creative Source - You're too good to be true (Sussex) Archie Bell - Harder and harder (Beckett) Topics - Women's liberation (Castle) D. Ross / M. Gaye - My mistake was to love you (Motown) Herbert Lacy - Give me / a chance (Georgia gar) Brad Lundy - I could never have another (UK Pyramid - is this rare?? Raymond Martin - Guilty of loving you (Composers) Serena Johnson - ALL work and no play (Big 2) Some lovely modern Northern and crossover spins there folks, and I must mention the drinks, Kingstone press classic Cider / Huber US Prem Beer / Isla Negra 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon / Bass No. 1 Pale Ale / Moorhouse Black Cat Ruby Ale .... Keep the Faittthhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
  13. What about ' I'll be doggone ' Marvin Gaye, absolutely fabulous Northern/ Motown sound, from one of the very best genius black male vocalists ever, fantastic enduring 60's soul !
  14. Got one also, actually bought it for the other side ' I gotta be with you'
  15. Generally UK earlier Motown 45's much dearer than the US issues, and probably a better sound on the British 45's, but if you want true Soul originals, the US stuff has to be it (but if you want genuine 1st issues be careful, loads of US Tamla / Motown / Gordy etc re-issued several times in the 60's / early 70's ) - at one time, I had 7 copies of Brenda Holloway 'When i'm gone ' - and I seem to remember there were 5 different label variations !!
  16. Try to grow a sense of humour - life can be hard enough as it is without boring old tossers wasting time and space moaning about fuck all !
  17. Can't agree, classic, tho' very dated 60's soul sides, don't ever hear them out anyway, so no point in slagging them off ?
  18. Have a copy of Kelly and Soul Explosions somewhere in my collection, reckon its a pretty nice copy, will dig it out tomorrow, what sort of price would you be willing to pay for it ? Thanks, Jez, Spalding.
  19. No, young Mark has moved on to a lovely grey and black striped de-mob double breasted suit, circa 1946 ...worn with a pair of 40's black / white mobster style leather winkle pickers, and a shiny toff's monocle on his left eye, and sometimes sports a stunning fluorececent green lampshade made into a pork pie hat on his head = this guy has style !!
  20. Got one now, a beautiful little number in navy, with red and tan thin striping, wore it at the 100 Club anniv - had some very encouraging and kind compliments, apart from Mick Smith, who asked where i'd moored my boat.
  21. Anyone know why Joey Gee ' It's more than I deserve ' and Dawn ' Baby's gone away ' appear on both ABC Paramount, and the later ABC label, both seen on black issue and white demo on the Paramount label, but I've only seen demos of both on the other imprint (with the Abc in a circle). J. Manship has a Dawn demo on his site at present. Surely both weren't reissued ? According to an ABC US discography on the internet, the Paramount label finished at 10803, and releases after this are the later design, and as these two are 10781 and 10791, they shouldn't be ?!
  22. Been looking for a 2nd/hand striped boating blazer, prob 44" .... doesn't seem to be many out there ... £99 new on Inter-web, 3 button, mod style, would prefer nice used, older style 2 button ? Thanks, J.
  23. Mmmm.....probably at least half of the sounds on the Searling playlist feature a white vocal, and most people would argue it was Winstanley who played most of the pop stuff at Wigan ?? comments, anyone ?
