Bobby Womack 110Th Street Nyc
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing. Love so many of those old Soul Train clips particularly ones with interviews and live performances from the artists, like the one posted. Couple of my faves seem to have been taken down/ disappeared i.e. Chairmen of The Board- Finders Keepers and Eddie Kendricks - If Anyone Can.

I Know We've Had These Before But I'm Still Unsure - Boots/orig ?
Re Jimmy Raye, according to JM's guide ( 5th edition ), the counterfeit has 10.10mm wide deadwax and matrix lightly scratched which reads S - 002 - A It states the original has matrix reading S - 002 B and that you may detect a very faint illegible matrix between the 2 and the B going clockwise, 21.00mm from the S.The defining stamp is directly opposite the S namely a tiny stamped in hall matrix PES I don't write this stuff, I'm just repeating pretty much verbatim what's in the guide Oh, the label scan of the original in the guide has Jodax ( BMI ) printed beneath Hitch n Post. Apologies if above already been said in previous thread.

Va Va Voom 10Th Anniversary Special - London, 24Th May
Body Chains is another good Jack Ashford/Lorraine Chandler co write. What I posted in the record club thread on here in January and Harrogatesoul's reply:- Eddie Parker - Body Chains Haven't posted anything for a while coz I aint bought anything lately. Been trying to buy this record for a while and have been outbid twice. Finally got a copy on Discogs at a reasonable price. Same guitarist as on Billy Sha Rae's Do It I'd say because the riffing at about 1.14 is almost identical. Apologies if posted previously. Re. Eddie Parker..One of those 45s I ignored for years as it sat in the 'P' section.. Sounds better with age if you know what I mean!

When I replied to your initial post about this record and referred you to a previous thread on here about copies on London, I assumed you had the yellow demo. Your find seems to have caused quite a stir! Well done. Mike

Jimmie Ellis Happy To Be
Don't think it has Rob judging from attached scan from an Ebay listing. I've attached a scan of an original from Popsike to compare. No idea about deadwax though. Original on JM's auction went for over £400 this week which seems reasonable for a great tune like this?

Hey Mr Tambourine Man
Many of my favourite records have something in common, that is the involvement of Jack Ashford either writing, producing or playing tambourine or vibes. Jack Ashford is 80 today. Nice one!

Majestic Soul - May Issue - My Tunes
Don't know many of those Rob, but will give 'em a listen later on Youtube. Sad to say I only made it to Majestic once last May before we moved from London. Because it is held on Thursday nights, it didn't fit well around work the next day, but look forward to going again sometime soon.

Small "45" Too Hot To Hold - Why ?
Just to add to the controversy, the entry in the Manship Guide 5th edition re the issue is as follows:- Okeh 7226 * * The label text 45 RPM is the same size. This is an original 1st press. Existence of stock copies with a large 45 text with smaller RPM underneath are still unconfirmed. Stays in the box

No Northern Soul God Help Us
Been listening to BBC 6 Music of late and pleased to discover that there are still loads of contemporary British bands /artists making great music as, of course, was always the case going right back to the 60's. You just have to search for it but I am happy to listen to that.

Soul Source Favourite Motown Song
My vote is for The Temptations - I Know I'm Losing You. Gritty soul music at its best.
-
What A Tune This Is: David Ruffin - I Can't Be Hurt Anymore
Each Day Is A Lifetime from the David CD is a real tour de force. One of the very best arrangements/productions on Motown which rightly did get released at the time.

Happy Part 325
I was gobsmacked to see my daughter featured in one of them - from Seoul ( Ultrabox - hip hop club ) It's extremely good - but I'm biased.
