Holding Records
We have all been there Jason, if you know the guy well you will know I guess, if it's somebody new, ask for immediate payment, or perhaps a holding deposit, I've done that before, non refundable and good to set a time limit for the full payment. Something along those lines perhaps, not an easy one and some on here don't hold at all these days, first full payment gets it. Mal

Various Musings On The Salvadors
makes me laugh, I can normally get away with most of the record collecting 'Bollox' when I speak to friends who simply dont know about soul 45 collecting, but the 2nd press 'Dimple' in the master plate... dont think I could ever relay that one without feeling, well... a bit sad

Grier Bros - Weeping Baby....... Ebay
I've mentioned this before, but there was a glut of folk like me that bought it in the 8ts early 9ts simply because it made the Soul Supply LP "under the street lamp' every record on that LP was a want, as I remember it wasn't an expensive track but back then £40 quid to me was allot of money.... It all goes around doesn't it... Malcolm

Loads For Sale But Cant Be Arsed
Every time this happens to me, I rant and rave, and then the person gets back with a totally plausible reason for not following up quickly, kind of makes me feel really foolish... what can you do... had some chap from Germany I think inquire about a record several times, that I hadn't sold, in the end I just told him I thought he was really weird and that he should seek help... but not with me... that did the trick and the record still hasn't sold... ** Just Brothers - She Broke His Heart ** Sold **
from https://solidhitsoul.com One of the more interesting deals that Wand seems to have made was with the Garrison label. Several Garrison releases seem to have a corresponding entry on the Wand discography, but I've never seen any of the actual Wand releases for any of these titles. Earl Harrison's "Humphrey Stomp" is probably the most common Garrison release, but where are all the Wand copies that were supposed to have been pressed? Could it be that after "Humphrey Stomp" started selling well on the initial label, the label owners decided not to follow through on the Wand deal, thinking they would make more money if they did it all themselves? Are Wand copies of Garrison's brilliant Detroit productions of the Honey Bees and the Just Brothers languishing in a warehouse somewhere? Another Wand release brought in from another local label also seems nearly impossible to locate, but it is known to exist, unlike the Garrison stuff. The Ivories "Please stay" came out on a tiny Chicago label called Despenza and is hard enough to find on that label, let alone on Wand. Seems strange that Wand would only try for that one release from that local label, however, since there were other local Chicago groups who recorded for Dispo and Despenza who might have benefited from a Wand distribution deal. From around the same time as the ill-fated Garrison deal, Wand seems to have jumped on the Motown bandwagon and released several Detroit-produced records. They signed a deal with Herman Griffin who wrote or produced several tracks, including Chuck Jackson's only Detroit-related Wand single "Good things come to those who wait" - in my opinion one of Chuck's best releases on the label. Diane Lewis' pair of singles also came from this Herman Griffin connection. so there you have it...

** Just Brothers - She Broke His Heart ** Sold **
try this: https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/justbrothers.htm I know there are a couple that were supposed to have been released on Wand, or were due to be released, but didn't for one reason or another, some did but in very small quantity, the Ivories comes to mind as an example, I think Dave Flynn covered this in some of his sleeve notes back in the 8ts/9ts, and Ive read it elsewhere since. Wasn't 'Carena' one that was supposed to have had a release on Wand, it got a release/cat number, but nobody has ever seen it, something like that? Wand 1144 - Carlena / She Broke His Heart - 1966 But personally, no I have NEVER seen an Issue on Wand, only read about it, but that doesn't mean it does not exist does it.. 'Garrison' Scan shows Flomar Music, so anything is possible. still the record has sold, and the mystery of the WAND release lives on... M

The Brentwoods - Gee But I Miss Him / Bell Sound Acetate
Hi all, just got this, 'The Brentwoods - Gee But I Miss Him / Bell Sound Acetate' a really good Girl group 45, and wondered if there was a difference between the Talent Records release and the acetate I have, notice online that all the clips Ive played dont have the intro I have, rest sounds pretty much the same, cant compare the length cause the acetate doesn't state what it is. Flip is the same as the released 45. Just wondered has anybody got the Talent 45, can you confirm the beginning of the 45 as above? mine has the backing singers coming in with 'Don't you Know, Don't you Know, Don't you Know'... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1ss_uX5dnQ Thanks in advance, Malcolm
