Putting The Record Straight - Richard Searling
I loved this book! I was born in 69, so was in 1st year secondary the year the casino closed, so Iโve heard a great many stories over the years about splits and falling outs, but that seems to be the fodder of Northern soul unfortunately, Richard Searing was on the whole better to leave all that out. If you look at most of the better books written by UK soul followers itโs a patchwork, no one book can do it all... Richards book for me though sits right next to several others that are โessential readingโ! Mal

Not generally surprised at many of these prices now, but that really is as good as buying an air fair to Japan, smoking the ticket and attempting to get the bus...!

Hide nor Hair - Big or Small
Wow... I have a question about your time in the shop/s, Iโm sure most on here will remember this kind of experience. when I really got into collecting House records about 87/88 we used to go to a shop called Don Christieโs in Birmingham, Don was white but he was the main man for Reggae in the city and his shop the the place to go on a Sat morning, we went because he was astute and would always have a great box of the latest imports from Chicago Detroit, New York. We were the only white kids in that shop, and you had watch yourself a bit, you took your place on the long counter and he would play things while you went through the box he got from under the counter. You gestured if you wanted it, and they would throw the track to your way. It was an experience in its self, but Don took no shit of anybody and if we got comments because of our colour or choice of music, the person involved was out on the street!! One thing I miss in this โdigitalโ age is that interaction with other buyers like that, I met all kind of folk in there and other shops like it, you must have stories from LA and Chicago, Iโd love to hear some of these if you are happy to share a few... Hide nor Hair - Big or Small
Itโs an absolute blessing to have you on here Robb, having somebody who was actually buying a large percentage of these great 45s we all have and want in the US is totally invaluable to this site... But your a modest man, with a cast iron memory... not like me ! Iโm right you actually shopped in the Dolphin record shop in LA? Malcolm

Big Dee Irwin - boot ?
Iโd say thatโs an Orig demo, spotted immediately... Itโs just too good for an up to date boot, and itโs not been done before.... Iโd say original but the wax will determine demos are on vinyl, all the blue issues Iโve seen on styrene

Buying 7โ paper sleeves x1000
Always bought of Covers 33, think they charge a tad more but with fee postage. dont know if they have sorted this but they were producing slightly oversized sleeves that would not quite fit into their 7 card sleeves, a real pain for those of us with OCD... outside of therthey are friendly and easy to deal with... ๐ i want green internal sleeves, anybody know where I can get those?

Not so much a 45, but Lp of a 45... I was playing Garland Greens RCA Lp the other day and came across his version of "Let me be your Pacifier" written by Willard Burton, wonder if Willard wrote this for him / for that LP, then recorded his version which came out on Money as a 45... great song ๐
