Ironically Gene Scepters came out in Japan as well as S.Africa (and a host of other countries).....
  2. Great one. If I didn't have a test press I would have bitten Pete S's hand off for it.
  3. HI Adam, I am hoping to get it out in time for the Xmas rush. Steve
  4. Thanks but John this is not quite right. I interviewed the songwriter, And there is a bit in my book about it all (plug plug!). Suffice to say the Wand release was before Garrison and was pulled and replaced with the Garrison release. And yes it does exist on Wand.
  5. Matt he might have got a second one.
  6. Hi Wayne I'll check by the master number.....Cheers, yes Filthy sounds good! Steve
  7. I now also have a Mercury acetate of it (from Butch).....just for those that like keeping notes of these things Great record! The actual title on the acetate is "Treatin' myself to a new love"
  8. Jean was fab in Edmonton last night and the "Jean Carne Ensemble" backing band were great as was Chris who duetted with her. I'd never quite realised the connection with Phyllis Hyman which she explained. (She also did an impromptu "You know how to love me" in response to an audience request. She was on stage at 8 and on til 9.45 so great value. You folks in Newcastle get along there for a treat. And take your requests cos she might ask you for them!
  9. I agree Dave, with many of these so called "rare records" there are more of them stashed away in collections than many folk realise.
  10. Richard Walker "Sally's party" (Wand 159) An Ernest Kelly production I guess from when he was in NY. I've never seen a copy and I wondered if anyone else has? Steve
  11. Absolutely right Derek. The man has forgotten more than most people know......
  12. Yes. Not too many copies about and those that have it generally hold on to it.....Steve
  13. Thanks for clearing it up Robb (again).....
  14. And for those in London she's appearing in Enfield on Friday and Saturday before this....
  15. John told me he got them from the engineer when the label went bust for the first time and the engineer hadn't been paid by Sussex and just had these 200 or so records that he'd managed to get his hands on. Worth asking him about it when you se him, it's a good story.
  16. God that's awful! A very mediocre B side band jam!
  17. Yes Simon but I'll let you know what PS tracks I have before then
  18. I got a couple of those Phyllis SMith's off of Dave years ago but I'll need to find them. Nothing special as I recall.....
  19. And you would be absolutely right soulpaul10 - hence the term "cut outs". .....mind you that doesn't stop other people on here just making things up whenever they don't know the answer to something....
  20. All depends on whether you get two guys bidding on it. Lovely tune I'd never sell mine
  21. Yes but that's not the exam question.....Nil points for that answer
  22. Someday you're gonna hurt me - Old Yarmouth spin, fantastic Malaco....
  23. So I do know that John Manship had 4 copies in 1994-5. John A bought them all and was going to send them to Japan for wants lists. I managed to get one just before they went for the sum of £30.
  24. OK thanks for clarifying. I think I got the impression from the soulfulkinda music interview with Don which said "Don had recorded three tracks at Scepter and returned to Detroit to carry on with other projects, leaving Johnny Terry to deal with the finances from the New York end". So I wonder what the sixth song he recorded was then? Session 1: "Dearly Beloved" + "Do you believe it" + "Never leave me" Session 2: ??? + Baby baby take a chance + Don't turn your back on me I want to get it right in the book.....Steve
