  1. C. M. Lord on CD at last. This is a great volume in the series. It was perfect in the warm garden this weekend.
  2. Yes it is on Unreleased 1968, part 2.
  3. This topic also opens up to related prior DJs such as Guy Stevens, Brian Phillips, Carl etc. Formative to the Soul scenes to follow. Nobody picking Peter Stringfellow in his earlier days at the Mojo?
  4. Sad news and yes, lots of affection for Chris in Nottingham. Would chat at Rob's in the past. Was important also in that 1990s Nottingham Northern Soul resurgence that was really exciting to be back part of.
  5. So many great songs
  6. Some great smooth, modern Soul from the accomplished singer. RIP
  7. Lots of great songs. RIP
  8. There was also a prior double CD of Loma to that too. Enjoying the new CD immensely.

  10. Eddie Curtis left them after the second album in 1970. The members all released solo albums in 1972 in a co-ordinated way, so these shows seem a run up to that.
  11. Thanks for highlighting these.
  12. Yes 'that's worth £15' was said about it.
  13. Have just seen a download of this from Sky with the rerecordings. Record shown in the girl's record box being Do I Love You.
  14. RIP Thomas Bell and thanks for a huge contribution to Soul music.
  15. Very interesting, thanks for the link. There was a good article on Andre Williams there too.
  16. I collect only via CDs & legal downloads not vinyl anymore, which I stopped and sold fifteen years ago. I buy every month and look out for old and new Soul music continually. I enjoy my still growing library as a personal streaming cloud service via a great service called Astiga. I have over 80000 songs in the Soul library with many duplicate songs from CDs removed. Lots of fun to put on shuffle!
  17. I wonder if any live footage in some of the clubs, I''ll be watching these for sure
  18. Excellent! There was a nice book on the first Motown trip to UK a couple of years ago.
  19. The CD is brilliant, with the Billy Watkins song especially becoming an instant classic for me.
  20. 2016. More at https://www.discogs.com/release/8770823-The-Allergies-Loves-Supposed-to-Be Was on their first album.
  21. I've had multiple profiles here since the early days. I cannot even remember now why I different earlier logins to this one. It blurs between the start here and the Keeping The Faith group that I was in from near its start. Before that there was a Yahoo email group that ran from very early in the Internet era, I'm guessing that was maybe as far back as mid 1990s.
  22. One of the very early DJs used to post in the earlier KTF group nearly two decades ago. He was in Canada by then and listed loads of early NS plays pre CC & IL (before the term NS existed of course). If I remember correctly his name was Ron but I could be wrong on that.
  23. Hi all, great releases recently with new to CD from the masters Northern Soul classics. First to highlight is the new 4CD set from Cherry Red: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/gotta-get-a-good-thing-goin-the-music-of-black-britain-in-the-sixties-4cd-book-set/ and then the recent one by Rubble: https://www.amazon.co.uk/British-Soul-Power-Various/dp/B0B5RH3GCS Before that there was this one from Cherry Red too: https://www.cherryred.co.uk/product/i-love-to-see-you-strut-more-60s-mod-rnb-brit-soul-and-freakbeat-nuggets-3cd/ There are other releases too. There is some duplication of course and lots of tracks not of interest here. Sequel did a couple of CDs with some of the songs from masters and before that Goldmine had them off disc, but it's great to have high quality releases and with lots not on CD properly before ever such as Jimmy Cliff's 'Waterfall' as just one example Lots to enjoy for those who like British made Soul and related music of the 60s.

  24. Mine arrived today, the Gloria Scott album is wonderful, as is the new Kim Tibbs. Soul of the type people say 'they don't make them like that anymore'.
  25. I went back to all my Groovesville and related CDs yesterday and nothing jumped out as obviously using the same backing. I eventually sold my Groovesville book as it was just collecting dust, but if there is anything to find - I'm sure it is covered in there.
