  1. Caught Elaine & Lisa on Breakfast yesterday and was impressed with Elaine and her portrayal of the scene and it seems. and I hope, it all pans out for her, takes guts to put yourself and your assets on the line and I was even more impressed that she persevered for 10 years to make this film, Lisa came across as a bit slack mouthed and slow though and looked daft in that hat but she can't be that daft she's a million £ or so in front of me in the bank , just watched the vid on here, where did they get all them youngster from? I know there's a few on the scene but not a couple of thousand, or was there some strategically placed old wrinklies like myself to pad it out? Inspired using Kings Hall, Stoke it's the closest Venue I've been to that mimics the Casino, from the inside at least. Anyway Good Luck Elaine, this week will show if your stars gonna shine bright and I think it will blaze like a Comet because it's seems finally there's a film that actually show the scene as it was. So Friday it's off to York to watch it and remember just how it was, I feel a dance coming on, now where's me knee brace, ankle brace, fiery jack muscle cream and me anti inflammatory cream, got em, oh bu**ar records finished, next time hey!!!!!!!!! Take care, be safe & remember," Long after tonight is all over, long after tonight is gone, I'll be yours for ever and a day I know", Spot.

Steve that is exactly how Gibby talks, yes all in one breath & many different subjects, it's tiring I know just listening. Spot.
  3. Must be the old Ladies wc with the bowl & cistern removed if you can't get a twin deck in, must be using a Sony Walkman btw as Quinvy said, it's a no to everything but if you decide to proceed how about, Foggy's favourite 45's or Compo's Compilation. Spot.

  5. Woe betide me & Thee then Barney cos I think we're forthright Yorkshire folk, you like your venues & I like mine & occasionally we like each others & are more than willing to say so & as you so eloquently replied when I asked you if you liked the newer rare CD's I did for you,"Rubbish but they'll keep birds off me veggies".pmsl, take care Spot. Soul Source Scarecrow's Ltd.
  6. It's the Magic Roundabout question on SS, it just keeps turning & every so often someone gives it a push. The hype will have vanished in a while & some newbies will cling on & most will fall by the way side when it's not flavour of the month anymore. As for ovo I see it everywhere most omit to say ovo boots or reissues, I noticed the returnees got a mention, well some of us had mortgages etc to pay & most (not all) of the late 80's stuff was utter crap, fit better with "Deliverance" or hillbilly music, so no incentive to return earlier, anyway back on topic, there are venues out there worthy of note,it's just that they're swamped by the Oldies venues, seek & ye shall find.
  7. Jesus it's like being there in the studio with Frank, almost wet me Tena lady but as Pete said put a smile on me face & a nice glow to my cheeks this Wednesday morning, God Bless ya. Spot.
  8. What a character, what a loss, as Dave says a true Soulie and we'll miss him so much. First met Les at Middleton he was with Coggy over by the wall in the dark shadows, he could be leary but he was a Gent around women and should have written a book with the stories he had, we spent many a night laughing in his company and I know Coggy will be devastated by his passing. I remember the first time we went back to Jan & Cog's in the morning, I was following on a Dual Carriageway when Cog suddenly pulled up & a nighter bag flew out back door followed by Libby who shot off over a wall and through some trees. Back at Cog's I asked what had he done to get thrown from the car on a busy road, I didn't throw him out Spot, he normally goes that way as it's quicker and he like to borrow a couple of eggs from the Allotments for his breakfast on his way home, as I said a character who'll be truly missed. Spot & Gail.
  9. High Voltage Pete what a tune, so vivid an image of Cleethorpes btw getting the odd play at Nighters, watch the value rocket btw love Robert Parker also.
  10. Can't say fairer than that but someone will still doubt. Oh ye of little faith or is it the green eyed monster? Spot.
  11. Oh Phil what a mistake putting that up, I'm saying nowt but there's been a long and bitter debate about Northern Soul Girl dancing anywhere in the entire world where someone happens to have a Box Brownie or similar and lets be right most lasses of 20 year old or similar look fit to us old farts. Spot.
  12. Shouldn't we TRY and embrace it all, after all it's OUR music and it's all basically Oldies, we now have a vast catalogue of music Old and Newer to enjoy, remember there's always been sh*te along the way but I must say that most of the Old stuff is far superior to the newer stuff but there are a lot of exceptions and I'd frequent more Oldies venues if I thought I'd get more than the Top 100 (Max). My wouldn't it be a boring place if we all enjoyed the same things, except R&B because nobody really likes that. Diversify or Die, Spot.
  13. So in 1990 they could see it ending, well it's still going strong but that Andy Peebles what a t*t.
  14. We wish you all the best on your recovery Ian, it will take time & is a slow process but it's amazing what is achievable, forget all the politics and name calling, as a person we wish you well & as a Dj we thank you for what the Highland Room & the music you brought to us, did to our lifes, I know it changed mine & put me(and my Wife Gail) onto the path we still follow, this scene owes you a a pat on the back & a big Thank You. Spot & Gail.
  15. Quick hide your Monkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. I agree with Steve S 60, well done, proper recognition for an iconic venue and part of our youth, I hope it's in a prominent place with a photo (Similar to the one here) to give an idea of the place. Spot.
  17. Well done Kev for not biting, seems to be using snippets etc to provoke, the quote about not playing originals just shows the chasm between old school and the new generation,I still believe if you weren't there you just won't get it 100%, sorry but I'm a cynical, miserable, bitter old fart. Spot. P.s. Bet all, including him are well under 50.
  18. Great Phil, be a bit more careful in future & go with your instinct btw make sure every person on any soul forum or social media knows this guy and what he does and as Philly says hound the tw*t for the £75. Spot.
  19. Great Pete, brings back such memories, glad you put Rodger Collins on, I love it and have fond memories when it was massive but it seems to be one of those people castigate for some reason, Saxie Russell seems to be the same & I don't know why, anyway thanks for the tunes. Spot.
  20. Who actually gives a rats behind, other than someone buying it, my rare Green bootleg i gave to Snowy could hardly be told from a real one, it's all gone a bit Pete Tong this thread & very anal. Spot.
  21. Nice list Derek, just love Robert Thomas and in my humble opinion by far the best version, I remember how massive it was at Cleethorpes in the 70's but seems it's not rare enough to play out anymore so it's Rita Lee/Cressida Watson instead btw also love 100% & Corey Blake. Spot.

I'm in agreement but I'm afraid Politics and Religion are the main cause of War's and the Middle East etc has shown that for generations, it's ok to sing about morality and empathy and everything else but only we can put it into practice and I'm afraid at some point we all pick sides, nice thought and sentiment though. Spot.
  23. I'm jealous, I love "Do what you wanna do" & remember it being massive at Blackpool Mecca first in the early 70's but only for a fleeting moment, I think it was booted quickly as it was such a big tune, I also love "Candy" and his E J Rush tune ain't shabby, the start of which sounds a little "Do what you wanna do'ish", or is that just wishful thinking by me? Anyway thanks for the clips it's brightened up my day. Spot.
  24. See you caught the Phantom Arse Groper on tape & how cool did Joe look spinning a few in his shades , great video even though the panning was a bit quick & made my head spin but depending on time of day & quantity of liquid intake then I suppose your head could have been spinning , still great to see Soulies enjoying themselves, we had a weekend or 2 in. Spot. p.s. Thought it was the Horse & Groom, not the Arse & Grope?
