  1. Extremely disappointed with those who have slated William Shatner. You do realise that without this man we'd all be speaking Klingon.
  2. I obviously remember it from odd play at Wigan. Bought it off Richard for £100 around 81/82. Played at Stafford. Sold to Tim in 1999/2000 for £8500.
  3. Thanks Mike. Slightly OT but I guess to do with "alarm" I've mentioned my stepson being advised by 111 first to self-isolate and then a week later diagnosed over the phone as probably having the virus. Last night he felt short of breath and was taken by ambulance to hospital. Examined by a doctor who said he had the flu plus a severe chest infection and sent him home. They have tested him and he'll know the result in 3 days but looks like he never had it in the first place.
  4. Sorry Mike. Going off something like this https://www.livescience.com/how-long-coronavirus-last-surfaces.html, which of course isn't a UK source but is referring to medical studies. But then I missed "we don't really know" I've had a word with myself and will desist spreading anymore alarm.
  5. The immediate effect due to £-$ rate was to make them more expensive if buying from USA. Overall though I have been thinking about it, particularly buying through the mail and the chances of the virus being passed on if it can survive for 72 hours on surfaces. I got a 45 yesterday from Southampton. Found myself washing my hands after handling packaging, then on removing 45 from a protective plastic sleeve and then playing the actual record. I then figured this is bloody ridiculous. If the 72 hours advice is reliable then I guess after being delivered [postman has touched it] if you wait that long to open should be no chance of catching virus ? Because most of my buys are off US eBay which are first sent to a mate in NJ I'm thinking I may stop buying because I don't want to put him in any danger as the situation in the USA seems to be much worse than here. More cases in NYC than in the entire UK. What do others think ?
  6. Modernsoulsucks commented on Sweeney's comment on an event in Soul Nights

I have no idea what she was up to but whilst sat outside having a smoke a complete stranger came up to me and "warned" me about the woman in the blue dress. I explained I was married to her and his advice was 20 years too late.

I nearly didn't go to this event as one or two people warned me that Nigel was on but luckily I ignored the flood alerts. It was a bit out the way and the bus service back to Clitheroe was atrocious. Something the promoters might like to bear in mind for next time. It took me a while to get into the swing of the place but mainly due to collapsing after buying a round of drinks. I could have rented a bijou flat up here for the price I paid. The music was top class all night and I didn't hear any Chas 'n' Dave's records. I'd recommend this place to anyone with a jellied eel stall or who sells second-hand motors. Enjoyed myself. Thank you to all involved and apologies for Clare but I'm married to her so have to bring her along.
  8. Credit for the work he put in there and free to use but aren't a lot of these guide prices just fairyland. I just checked latest thing I bought off eBay, Bobby Williams "Its all over". VG++ £150 ! Cost me £20.44. M- Obviously you can pick up bargains but I'd go with finishing prices on eBay [popsike] rather than a figure which seems to have been plucked out of the air. In truth there isn't a best up to date guide. You need to check selling prices across a wide range of outlets and then apply common sense. I reckon Williams would be £40 here ? LATER ADDITION Looking at this guide looks like it is a realised price ? I'm going off the fact he's stated grades. And there are multiple entries for same 45 eg Magnificent Men "I've got news" so IMO a better base to judge values than say Manship or Brown.
  9. I get requests for "Get off" which seems to be by the Umuppets but unfortunately I don't have a copy.
  10. My wife has persuaded me to go to Cleethorpes this year. Main selling point is the fishing lake. Not been fishing for years but used to go a lot. That's the only gear I'm taking. If you or Paul S are going too I could do with some assistance as I think I've forgotten how to use my hook tie. I went to some weekender in France where people were sat around the pool. A fag, a drink in the balmy night air and my mind went back to smoking outside Burnley all-nighter at 3 a.m. in January and suddenly "keeping it real" wasn't that attractive.
  11. To be fair guy in video is a lot younger. Older you get the less nimble ? But thanks for the video. The thin girl in the short dress was worth it alone.

Customs must keep a record to ensure PO collects duties owed ? Computerised ? Highlights frequent users ? Just a thought.

I wonder if the number of packages coming through the door gets you noticed. I get say six per year from USA usually 50-ish albums and 20-ish 45s. Whilst mate declares low I can't hide postage which is usually around $100. Not got charged yet.
  14. Rod where did all the stuff in the 70's in manchester come from that searling and you and dave macadam all went through. wasnt that radio station stuff. Got it from Indigo Studios but where it originated no real idea. From the vague indications we got from the sellers it was more to do with TV. I remember Plymouth Grove being mentioned and TOTP was based around there from 64-66 so maybe that.
  15. But wouldn't there be more than one library ? I know a guy who got stuff out of BBC Manchester [not 60's]. And then there are overseas stations which I guess were operated by BBC World service or whatever. Scal on here got in one and there were tons of UK 60's demos. Which they wouldn't sell unfortunately ! Posted whilst you were typing, Chalky.
  16. Always assumed so but no idea really.
  17. Turned this and WB up in early 90's I think from a box under the table in Ye Olde Clocke Shoppe in Kannapolis. There were about three boxes full of oddball NC labels. Sold WB to Sam and I think Phil Wainwright got the other title. Pretty sure I left Ronnie Lowe. Vocals let it down.

  19. 24 hours to find my baby
  20. Thanks Shufflin. Appreciate that. ROD
  21. Just got WXB mix and gonna compare to WXL. To save time anyone know difference and what I should be listening out for. Right now having played WXB sounds same to me but then not played WXL back-to-back.
  22. VG- A number of visible imperfections; the presence of a considerable number of light scratches will force a VG- grade, as will the presence of significant isolated defects such as scratches deep enough to be felt with a fingernail. Prices he gets for VG and below records are crazy.
  23. Dreadful news, Derek. Only sold him a 45 around 6 weeks ago and had a chat via PMs. A nice guy.

  25. You can't generalise really, Steve. The guy with 500 boots, plus legit releases and cheaper originals probably has a passion to own what he likes. I can understand that more than say those I've met over the years who tell me they don't buy records. And Timbo, I guess a lot of these people are older so vinyl is their preferred medium on which to listen to music. I have some CDs but they tend to be those featuring unreleased tracks like the Motown series. I look on CDs as the 2019 equivalent of the C90 cassette - I've got the track "on tape" but I've not really got it in my collection. I have no idea how prevalent buying boots to play out is. I read about it on here but I'd have thought most were purchased for home use.
