Mother f***er! WTF? Why?

Good Lord. That's one nasty record. It sounds like something from Banana Splits!

Greater Experience and Don Ray are still great Northern dance records Arthur. How much soul is in there is debateable!

No idea mate. There was also the bomb scare at Notts Odd Fellows - we weren't outside too long for that either. Would that of been 86?

Different kind of bombers back then Steve.

Yep! The yellow mini. Never got to know Anita too well - I was a newbie and a young kid, she was always really nice to me though.

Some place in Boston Simon - can't remember where exactly, but it was on a mini bus.

East Of England Soul Club
I remember going to an all dayer at Kings Lynn - lots of scooter boys and a bit of a menacing atmosphere if my memory serves me correctly. Loads of us cramped in a red mini which had hardly any brakes, all the way from Spilsby, Lincs. I seem to recall the highlight for me being Arin Demain being played - but that could be complete nonsense, which I always have down as a Nev Wherry record.

Ploughing a lonely furrow Steve. I would have been meaningfully engaged elsewhere! Out of interest it would be great to see some of your playlists from the Fleet. If you get a chance - and or can remember!

Those names ring a bell mate. Dave Appleyard? Other Boston people I knew quite well then were Mick Bradbury, Figgy, Aidy Bradbury (sadly passed away), Anita - who I think was a nurse, Andy Rix, Steve Handbury etc. Quite a few others too but my memory isn't what it once was. In them days we sometimes ended up back at Mick and Aidy's parents - his mum used to make us Sunday dinner and sit there while we ate every mouthful! LOL I also recall going with Mick and his parents to visit Richard Bradbury in Lincoln prison - he once made a match stick model of something or other - bless! I also knew/hung out with the Lincoln lads and lasses at the time. Peter

I only went to the Fleet a couple of times with the Boston crowd - would have been early 80's I guess, when I was still living in Lincolnshire. I remember being quite ill on both occasions. The really odd thing is that I always had it down as being an oldies venue - and never went in the later years. I can't have been looking very closely at the DJ line up - funny that. Peter

Hi Phil I know nothing about the album nor what a decent price is. I suspect you will have seen that there are three on discogs. https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/2907328?ev=rb Peter

Guitar Ray
Minter sold on here last August for £750. Nice record - like the final few seconds where it seems to play off centre, well the ones I've heard do.

Ay up Dave Hope you're well mate. Yep, good old John. I was never a huge buyer but bought quite a few bits from the bowl in the early 80's - John was always really friendly and helpful. Peter

ASCOTS ANOTHER DAY
Indeed Sir. Mid and even down tempo soul music all the way for me. Thinking back to my yoof stompers and hundred mile an hour records always freaked me out! LOL

ASCOTS ANOTHER DAY
It's a lovely record for sure. As Arthur said, times have a changed.

I think Dave had quite a few firsts at Stafford. As has been very well documented by Chalky in his post wigan post this was a fantastic time for new records - I never really bought into the "60's mafia" sound but loved lots of other stuff.
