  1. Yep remember buying it from Pep in Wolverhampton . Was on a well known dealers list at that price as well. Lot's of those early 80;s late 70's 45 ' s were around in quantity. The rarity perception is a myth on many tunes. And remember for every rare Northern of Funk 45 listed on Ebay - that has ten watchers the equivalent rare classical album or rare Blue Note 60's RVG pressing will have over 25 / 30 people watching and bidding. The rare soul scene of collectors is a minuscule market when pitched against the rare classical , jazz , and heavy metal genres -
  2. Just sold two copies of the WVON white label album - both went for less than £11 - thought they would have fetched more in relation to the tracks covered on the album.
  3. Par for the course Dave. Tis Pay pal's way of eliminating money laundering allegedly If the money into an account shows unusual activity or numerous transactions it gets flagged up . Don't take it personally - all us who are registered with business accounts on Pay pal have gone through a similar policing in the past . All started with dubious sellers from Nigeria , Russia selling mobile phones and disappearing into the ether with monies on Pay Pal so you can see their point of view. Footnote Pay Pal is owned by Ebay - they bought them out and tightened procedures along the way.....
  4. Great topic to start John , and there are some interesting comments along the way. It's always been about supply and demand. When to sell and when to hold - record dealing is akin to playing a set of cards on the poker table. Many will know that ' big ticket ' items that cheque book Charlie' s scurry for eg Flowers ' For Real ' , Charles Jackson , ' Never Had A Love' as two examples were around in large quantities when no one wanted them. Honestly they were £8 items not now..... What constitutes rarity ? That's all an individual opinion. Records generally find their true price eventually. Personally when selling I would rather pass a record on for someone else to enjoy than hold out for ' book ' prices. Most collectors realise those book prices are highly suspect when selling . The record collecting circle is lottery at the best of times ..Sometimes the dice roll in your favour. As Dave Thorley said when John Anderson gave him a great piece of advice - sell the record move on and do it all over again - don't worry what someone else has sold a record for - do your own thing....
  5. 1.After the first .[ missing }. they were all sent internationally signed for to Italy 2. Makes no difference whatsoever in Italy's or other postal systems you are not covered immediately it leaves country of origin 3. Why should I name and shame the buyers ?- they were all blocked from purchasing in future , and otherEbay dealers were informed of their dubious claims. 4, Before people decide to ' like ' the post they should be in possession of the full story. 5. I never generalised just said Italy is not a country I post to did .not call anyone in Italy just the postal service that has an unusual high amount of missing parcels !!!!!
  6. If someone buys it he will probably ' cancel ' the transaction - Item no longer available is an easy option to use in Discogs compared to Ebay. Interesting he is located in Italy - one of four countries I refuse to mail to on Ebay due to 'postal ' mishaps on regular basis in that part of the world. Surely they can't all go missing but over a year had in excess of ten ' not turn up ' hmmmmm

  9. No chance would that have ever got a Wigan spin Nev
  10. Prob cos we are not all cheque book Charlie's - some punters just want vinyl not bothered whether it' s an original copy. I also prefer og s - however we all have limits to our spending. The secret is to hoover these up when none else is searching for them . Not easy but that' s the way to build a collection of quality - believe in records not the prices and hyped cheque book collectors scurrying round over inflated ego 45' s. As S G will agree no fuck** wanted Sag War Fare ten years back - fact ,,, It s weird how certain spins cause a vinyl 45 to inflate madly in price. Sag War fare has always been more hotly collected in USA than UK , but the price now is astronomical - They are copies out there , there is for all records - no one can know read the Eccentric book with regard to Sag War Fare as to how many were pressed .
  11. Yep as I have said one dealer had a 200 count of Flowers , and was a front page focus on certain dealer lists £8 or so
  12. While on ' fact ' subjects . Richard did not purchase this from Soul Bowl from what I remember . He played it out @ Dunk All Dayer last year he said ' first time played out ' so never saw an airing @ Parkers from what I remember Steve. Sold / traded to Soul Sam last year . Yes , he's owned it since the 1990 's but purchased from another dealer not J A me thinks.
  13. Averages around the £135/ 150 mark regular on websites , auction sites. Always a strong seller
  14. Joking are you ? £25/ 30 is going rate for this one nowadays....
  15. Would have thought more than that . It 's value has actually increased following the Chicago Numero 's reissue on Libra as part of the Eccentric Soul Set . The tracks have been brought to a wider audience , and hence it's popularity has rocketed. Funny that this is one example of many records around twenty years back that zilch collector' s wanted. And no the surviving group members don't have any copies for sale. Some of them still working the Florida circuit.

  17. Just sold the red ' boot ' for around £40 ish which IMHO is a phenomenal price for a 70 's re - issue - demands seems to be sky rocketing on these in 2013.

  20. Saw Bunny Sigler perform a few years back at an early Luxury Soul Weekender - he was in fine form and humorous character . When performing his rehearsal Friday went in to listen with a few Bunny Sigler 45's for him to sign. Striking up conversation he mentioned he toured the UK at the height of the disco Scene with The Trammps . When it came to signing a demo of ' Sunny Sunday ' he insisted it was not his recording. After a five minute discussion on his recordings and constantly saying' nope I did not record that ' he broke into song singing the lyrics with a massive smile on his face . A genuine , and humble musician - now's there's a rarity in today's celebrity driven world. Great singer , performer , and all round true gent. Oh , and yes he signed the Parkway demo of ' Sunny Sunday ' eventually ....
