  5. Bought a £30 record from a guy on the south coast UK 2 months ago, he sent it in great packaging and the Royal Mail machine snapped it. No insurance on it, filled in a form, sent it off with the packaging and Royal Mail gave me the £30 and my post back, the records cracked across one side but still plays fine and I had been looking for one for 12 months or so, so try it and get your money back maybe, worth a try? I also use A4 photo copy boxes but someone told me you can get the white cardboard ones the same size as schweppes boxes with a lid like the USA ones. Cannot find out where to get them from in the UK, any help?????? The Man In Black
  7. So much bitchin' about a record that SOMEONE else bought? you would think that most of these posts were from people who didnt get near winning it. Hey if someone wants to buy a record at a certain price thats there business, after all if YOUR £20 record is fetching say £500+ then it just puts up the value of your record. I dont see anyone on here selling their copy of Lee Fields for £50 and if they did, the same people on here slagging of the buyer of JMs item would then turn on the one who sold it for £50 telling them they could of got over £500+ for it. I have paid what would be considered high prices for records but have bought more low value ones than high value ones, but now my £1 to £5 records are at least selling for £10 to £20 so itsa all relative. Heaven forbid if you go to sell your terraced or semi detached house for say £120,000 and the bloke comes around to view and tells you its not worth it as this type of house used to sell for £20,000 not long ago and all the estate agents in the area had at least 10 for sale. I have not got a Lee Fields, but hey I can live with that, I do have however an unreleased......Blah Blah Blah and an unknown.....Blah blah.........etc etc. The Man In Black

Waited a few years to get my copy and only got one in the last 3 months, i think it was £175, a real hard record but what a dancer, Soul Sam used to spin this years back, The Man In Black
  9. I might be wrong, but I seem to recall from a similar debate at a soul do many years ago, that a lot of copies where made off centre and where subsequently scrapped, so its not as abundant as you would think but certainly not rare. I might be wrong but would explain the lack of listings. The Man In Black
  10. It wasnt Ronnie Dyson you saw in your dream playing at The Black Horse it was Clifton Dyson of Dysons Faces fame also , Byrd Pressley and a couple of other indie acts that Dave Halsall used to bring in now and again. Top people in them days most now flown to the ends of the earth , even clifton on sea although im told because Coventry wouldnt have him Shaun????? The Man in Black

  13. The Wendall Watts is prehaps the rarest on the label along with The Precious 3, most of the stock was skipped when Ted Jarrett moved house in the 80s. THE MAN IN BLACK
  14. There is a Philly Kayden label, but dont have this on any listing from that label, issued from circa 1961, known issue numbers 400 thru 410, label owned by Kathy Dennis. It might be another label? Its number might give some more clues? The Man In Black

Its the only thing I ve seen on the label "Bee Jay", there is a similar label design with a bee and a flower called "Beegee records" out of LA California, which was a gospel label , not sure of any connection but the design is very similar. There is another Bee Jay label out of Memphis also with only one known release. THE MAN IN BLACK

Its at least from 1971 as it follows the Loletta Holloway release "Raindow '71" (#2004) and the James Phelps (#2007). nothing known on the group though, another single/debut release only to sink without trace??????? Defo the later Apache label design out of Chicago rather than the other 2 earlier Apache labels out of Florida and Brooklyn NY THE MAN IN BLACK
