I bought this a couple of years ago for about $6 off ebay. A little while after I saw a copy go through John Manship's auction for £70+, I realise this isn't always a true reflection of value.

I'd just like to know what it's worth now, as I'm wondering about selling it.

should be £ 10 for the issue,

in 1977/78 we found a box of 100 in a junk shop !!

there are literally thousands of issues lying around ( somewhere )

the demo is nice mind.

impossible to value really isn't it

not a 'market' value for it as as it is a TP there is no quantity around

but would say £50-£100 maybe

more if it was getting played again (unless it is???)

i've heard this played out a fair bit recently - filled the flor at sheridans new year niter i remember (through the haze of the closest thing i have to a memory of that night!)

I got one of those around the same time, though I paid a whopping $9 for mine.

A few dozen (I think) were found, and banged on ebay.

Got to say, I'd never seen one, and I've only ever seen one since on a dealers list (which was about four weeks after it was on ebay - so work that one out)

I wouldn't sell it if I was you. You ain't gonna make a killing, OK, based as a percentage of $6 you are, but I'd keep it - like Dan says, it's a test press and not very common.

Was massive everywhere as a new release and still at 'Oldies' venues. I still like it, it holds memories for me and it had a spin once or twice in the early days at Soulsville.

i'm a bit funny about test pressings and acetates - cos i'm not sure that they can be said to be an "issued" release in any sense

perhaps i'm wrong about that cos if a TPs taken off the finished plates perhaps it is cos it will have the relevent matrix number, etc on

if it's something that was never issued, then thats another matter, but otherwise i'd rather have a proper issue

however, it is a really nice item though cos it isn't simply a plain label with handwriting on, and i do sooooo lurve this tune!

It definatley on 7" as I have one somewhere. I think it might be their first single on ATCO because I've got the LP which I seem to remember is called "Circle of Love". I've read somewhere that LDYGTNCOM was their 3rd single, but I've no idea what the ''second'' single might be, if indeed it does exist.

Anyway, apprently all their singles bombed and so Nile Rodgers was asked to write something for them by one of the Atlantic A&R bods. On asking what they were like, he was told their a great bunch of girl, there are 'like family'. And as they say in a corny American accent the rest is history "Sistyer Sledge and We Are Family"

I don't know "Circle of love" but have played "cream of the crop" out and thats a blinder.. (and cheap)

Forgot to add "love don't go etc... " always gets spun at scooter do's, and will always fill the floor....

While being not quite disco, not quite modern, not quite crossover and not quite funk, it has all those ingredients and the whole adds up to more than the sum of the individual parts. Has it ever got spins anywhere or is it just too darned obvious?

Can anyone recommend anything in a similar vein - to my ears Margie Joseph's "I Can't Move No Mountains" has a similar kind of sound...

thinking of you broke on the arse end of jazz-funk scene (pre rare groove) as an oldie, crossed over to UK radio and then charted after re-issue. I remember selling dozens of copies i got from a deletions wholesaler prior to it's reissue cos it was such a huge underground tune before it got radio plays. it was easy to get before reissue cos it was the flip of one of their big chart hits (lost in music?) and the album was a big seller too - so could never have been big on the northern scene cos it's worth about 20p and it was an eighties chart hit! imho one of the best soul records ever made though

not quite disco, or modern, or crossover, or funk? sounds like a description for my favourite kinda tune - like say: jackson sisters i believe in miracles or main ingredient happiness is just around the bend or gwen mcrae keep the fire burning

By the way, are all copies of "Love.." on US Atco pressed way off centre - or is it just both of mine?

I missed the end of the auction on Pat Brady's site for the Sister Sledge test pressing, does anyone know what it went for? Last I saw, it was at £145!

Yes, I remember seeing them on TOTP with "Mama Never Told Me"

Circle of Love was played at the Casino at the same time as LDYGTNCOM.

Both were on the album Circle of Love released in the US and UK. I have it somewhere.

mama never told me originally came out in 1973 but im sure

they were on top of the pops singing it in 1975 when it was re issued

and it made the top 20. 1st issue is actually quite rare. only way to tell is the

catalogue number.
