We've been given Room 1 (aka the Crossfire Room) so plenty space for everyone with this massif ballroom with a great wooden dance floor. Merry Xmas & CU all there. Yann Link to comment

Also a few other treats in his playbox Here's an interesting bit of trivia too: Many know that Soul Sam has been DJing most weekends on the soul scene for over 40 years, but tomorrow night is the first ever New Years Eve soul venue booking that Sam has accepted . It's hard to think of Sam as a virgin, but we've told him that it will be a special night at VaVa Voom. Pucker up ladies! m Link to comment

Danny La Shrew x Lee Spirit told me yesterday that he's coming down for this and has got an Oyster card now so he considers himself an honorary cockney. 'Oh, is that known as a Hockney?' I asked. Guest clanger v2
Really enjoyed this nighter, spent my time running between the R&B room and the main room, danced far too much....no change there then! Great sounds played thoughout, many thanks to all involved in putting this event on Only downside, I know of 2 people who had their handbags stolen. Put a bit of a dampener on things really, which was a shame, but you cant allow for thieving scumbags, it's in their blood innit! Link to comment
Geoff
Last NYE's Va Va Voom allnighter was excellent, but I think this one was even better. Being in the larger room helped, nice big dance floor, although it was slippery, I had to take care when dancing, didn't want another tumble. Great music all night, danced more than I've done for quite a time, thanks guys, although I can feel my right foot protesting as I type this. I think the first one I danced to was the Camarros played by Dave Greet, and then it was on and off the floor most of the night. The DJs just kept playing tunes I had to dance to. Thanks to Dave Flynn for playing a "Domey" set, took me right back to the happy days of the Capital Soul Club, laughed when he played Wake Up To The Sunshine Girl and gave me a name check. A brilliant dance record, although perhaps not soul but who cares? And then in his second set he played I'm In With The Downtown Crowd, another of my favourite Dome records. Soul Sam played many of his popular tracks: Joseph Webster, Mixed Feelings, etc but my favourite in his sets was the slower one, The Hurt's On You, didn't catch the name of the singer, but superb soul music. Arthur played some great stuff, but my favourite was Kae Williams' Our Love Is Dying, wonderful, only just recently heard it again. Dave Greet played some nice tunes and in his first set played a track by the Sweet, think it was Something About My Baby, nice beat ballad. Nick Hackett played a solid 60s set including Tommy Ridgley's My Love Is Getting Stronger and Ady and Yann did their usual good work. Thanks to Karen for the lift up there, hope you enjoyed it. Nice to see so many of my friends having a good time there. Only criticism is of people with drink on the dance floor despite being asked not to do it, but that is just one of those things. Thanks to Ady and Yann for organising it and to all the DJs for great music. Link to comment

Prophonics 2029
Well done fellow's a fantastic night to welcome in the New Year. Great atmosphere being in the main room as against last years party. Drinks on the floor again, I saw a few that had an inch in a pint glass but a friend 'Emma' asked a girl to not dance with her drink on the floor and just got a rude reply! shame on her. Sadly got there for 11.30 and left at 3 so I missed Dave Flynn's sets but caught some great tunes. Link to comment

Ady Lupton
Just like to give a big thanks to everyone who supported us on Friday night, it was a great night! The numbers were up on last year so it was just as well we had the bigger room. Thanks to our Dj's Soul Sam, Arthur Fenn, Dave Flynn, Dave Greet & Nick Hackett! The music was fantastic all night & the busy dance floor was testament to that. Hopefully get some playlists up soon. Thanks to all our friends & co-promoters who helped promote the night, we couldn't have managed it without your help! With regards to the hand bags that were lifted, it is indeed very unfortunate & there's not a lot anyone can do to deter or avoid these bastards! Most of the tickets were sold in advance but even if they were all sold in advance it doesn't guarantee the scum won't get in. That said can someone actually confirm there was two bags that went missing? I did hear of one girls bag go missing which she later found after misplacing it (perhaps a few too many sherry's, it was nye after all)... Thanks again for all your support, hope to see you again in 2011 & a happy new year!! Cheers, Ady Link to comment

The numbers were up on last year so it was just as well we had the bigger room. Cheers, Ady Hi guys, well what a great night, fab room & of course company, i thought the mix of sounds was top also.
