They are probably same copies as before. And if 100 copies turned up it would still be rare item. To say it's not rare anymore is ridiculous and misleading.

perhaps its not selling because its an average tune and overated price by the seller

I never said I had 5 copies I said I have 3. Two I was selling and one I was keeping for my own collection

As for being overpriced I'm basing my price for a NEAR MINT COPY compared to a VG++ copy with a crack that sold for $1599.99 8 months ago .

So I feel justified in my pricing. I have been told by a few dealers in the U.S. and in the UK that $3000 is not impossible.

Seems A Very Fair Starting Price ( But It Will Probably Escalate To Nearer It's True Value) For A Great Tune (imho) Pity Paypal Don't Give Better Rates!!

I didn't want to say anything while the auction was up, but this doesn't even sound like soul to me

How about letting the market decide what it's worth, and what one mans soul is another mans music. This is a pretty obscure record , is accepted at soul venues some like it, some dont, i value record records, what i think they are worth to me, if i pay less, great if i pay more ok. Personally, i like the record, but woldnt pay more than $1000 for it, but i say good luck Brett ,glad you got one for yourself ,and thanks for supplying the world with a couple of others.

anyone can pay whatever they want for anything they want, and good for the seller that he found a buyer, nobody is saying that this is not obscure. People like plenty of records that I hate and I don't say anything. This record doesn't sound like a soul record to me though, it's so far out there, it's just rock. Maybe it's "northern soul" but I don't see how someone call call this soul and I don't think I'm out of place on a soul forum saying so. I'm not trying to put people down for fun.

Soul Source is not just a Soul forum but a Northern Soul forum as as most are aware many records relevant to these forums aren't soul.

Thanks Everyone for the good comments, Soul ? ... not Soul ? while trying to find out anything about this record in order to decide what to sell it for, I only found 2 pertinent web pages, here and musicpriceguide.com. The songs are not my style but I am still keeping 1 at least as an investment.

If I remember correctly, this was written by UK writers Reed & Mason, always thought there would be a UK version out there somewhere.

This record has been around since the days of the Casino, just not in the hands of anyone willing to persevere with it.

There is another version of 'My Aim Is To Please' from the 60s released in Australia .. I have it on tape somewhere but haven't listened to it for years .. I'm pretty sure it's on United Artists but forget the group name .. I'll need to try and find it

I was also told once, possibly by Kay Lewis, of the Lewis Sisters, that Al Wilson had a brother called Ted who was a singer ... so this could be him

Many records termed under the banner of Northern soul were not in the traditional Soul genre - It was and is a question of beat rather than voice hence why so many instrumentals became classics. Baltimore & Ohio being one of the best examples along with another 15-20 you could mention as classics.

AS you say it may be obscure because it insnt a traditional soul record but on what criteria does anyone use to say what is rare and whats not other than JM saying weve only had so many copies for sale. This is a question people have been asking for years and a repeat myself in parrot fashion that unless their is provenance (written) then rarity is only an assumption based on personal preception- Nothing more!

I've had this since 1988 when Jim Wensiora sold up, Guy and Roger Stewart use to play My aim covered up Des Parker told me the c/u name but im buggered if i can remember what it was thou. it was relatively cheap then and a 2 known copies record at the time. I played I cant take no more on my only appearance at Burnley (a request) to a full floor so you could say its a Burnely record

Very true Pete - was written by Les Reed and Barry Mason, best known as the duo who wrote many of Engelbert Humperdinck's tracks.

Like yourself, I've often wondered if there's a UK version around - though I would guess more of a possibility that it exists as an unissued studio tape or an acetate. More importantly, wonder who Les Reed and Barry Mason had in mind to record it in the first place?

I know there's differing opinions on the record here, but we wouldn't be human if we all agreed, would we? Having said that, I've loved it ever since I first heard Roger Stewart play it at the 100 Club around 1984.
