There has been something bugging me with the Soul scene for a while now......................so can anyone please tell me why????
I love my 30s Jazz, 40s Swing & Western Swing, 50s Rockabilly & 60s Soul...............I enjoy weekends out at 40s, 50s & Soul nights, but the only place that is bugging me at the moment, is the Soul night's.................when i have been to Soul night's i have heard folk saying, "that dj is a load of rubbish, i don't know how he get's a dj spot" & it really seems like that they have not enjoyed the evening, but when i read the lookback's review the following day, they say, "the dj is a top bloke & played a cracking set & it was the best night ever..........in my opinion, it does seem a bit two faced............i just don't get it!
When i have been at a 40s or Rockabilly night, if you don't like what the dj is playing, you go up & tell him to his face & they are quite understanding & encourage constructive criticism, take it on board & try to improve the evening. When my partner tried the same approach at a Soul night, he was threatened with a kicking..............just a few weeks ago, a friend was given a bit of a hard time for just saying that he did not enjoy a Soul night that he had been to..................the mind boggles!
