:hatsoff2: HI ALL DOES ANYONE FOLLOW NOGGERS DAILY PLAY, IF SO??

As i play records every day, often I think when was this last played or has this been played or do you know this, well lets here your recommended record of the day, keep it to just 1 45 and 1 LP.

My LP of the day is MOCKINGBIRD INEZ & CHARLIE FOX - SUE ILP 911 **** Current value about £50+

Great LP club soul class, every track is a winner and will bring the MOD in you to the top, recommended.

45 of the day, most of you will have so play it as son as you can as i still cant do the sound clip thing.

from the pen of BERRY GORDY, MARV JOHNSON - DON'T LEAVE ME - LONDON HL-T9013

1859 THIS WAS RELEASED? And it was one of the 1st SOUL records plus TAMLA,

this is a great record and a must have for any young DJ to play and to learn about the roots of SOUL

value £car boot cheap :shhh: rate *****

How this one has stayed under the radar for so long is a mystery to me. Ok its motown and its by one of the worlds best know bands but still............ If this is not a perfect cross over dancer ...

  • THE ADMIRATIONS 'Don't leave me'...Together with KEV'S previous posting, got to be two of the greatest 'cheapos' ever! Just spun'em back to back, fantastic stuff!

This morning's offering: One that gets a regular play at Hitsville's Sunday Mid Tempo Soul Brunch. Another one that if you've not heard before will have you scurrying to Ebay. Mr Cunningham is still performing too. Quality for the price of a bag of chips. Just how we like 'em! ;-)

Regards,

Dave

Another cheapie.Gave this a spin at Steve Cato's "Bedroom" (Soul Rev),once a couple of years back.

Martyn , love 'Standing on Guard' also , infact got a copy for £7 on a White Big Wheel , dont know if it was a demo , didn't say.

but 'I'm A Fool' edges it for me mate.

Take care

Swifty

FOUR TOPS....'Feel Free'...Awesome midtempo 70s Soul, with a great vocal performance from the under rated LAWRENCE PAYTON...

And my vote goes to 'Standing on guard' in the great FALCONS debate....

The video footage is nicked from the clip of Richie Havens performing this song accoustically at Woodstock. Great alternative to Spyder Turner's version of the song.

This morning's offering: Powerful gospel tinged song that when I've interviewed some soul artists has been quoted by more than one with ..."Wish I'd written that!". This version isn't from some far flung corner of Mississippi but from a group of ladies in London, UK! I've included a link to the Black Voices website if anyone wants to investigate further.

"My Light Will Shine So Bright It Will Blind You"

Dave

Taking Dave's gospel lead, here's one tha sounds as good at home as out.

Hi Gogger

I like that Edwin track - never heard it before! Here's one from another of the soul scene's major artists recorded after their classic period but still showing that they still had alot to give. Well I think it's a good track

got to agree they just needed the right song, not heard the major lance one neithergreat track.

ARETHA FRANKLIN 'Something he can feel'...'CAR BOOT CLASSICS'...The QUEEN on great form with this CURTIS MAYFIELD composition...Picked up an immaculate US 45 for 50p two months ago....Made my sunday....

The Salty Peppers - La la la Pt 1 - TEC Records.

From little acorns mighty Oaks grow

https://youtu.be/IONhdx30ShU

Earth, Wind & Fire leader Maurice White was a founding member of the Salty Peppers. While a session drummer for Chess Records and a member of the Ramsey Lewis Trio, White started a group with bassist/keyboardist Don Whitehead and vocalist Wade Flemons. The Salty Peppers had a Midwest hit with "La La La" -- issued on White's own Hummit Records -- and the track was leased to Capitol, which led to a record contract for the group. (The single was "Un Huh Yeah" b/w "Your Love Is Life.") After visiting California several times, White decided to make the move west and quit Lewis' trio. With demo tapes that featured the skills of Chicago multi-talent Donny Hathaway, White began shopping demo tapes (some featuring the skills of Donny Hathaway) around, then signed to Warner Bros., while the Salty Peppers eventually evolved into Earth, Wind & Fire.

How this one has stayed under the radar for so long is a mystery to me. Ok its motown and its by one of the worlds best know bands but still............ If this is not a perfect cross over dancer ... ive never heard one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TURN IT UP!!!

Records of this quality should carry a health warning. This oozes class, yet wont make a dent in the finances. In fact the your Financial Advisor (indoors),won't noticed the money missing from the bank account.Try it...a tenner should snag one.

Superb!

Sadly for me an obvious Supremes take off.

Trade Martin* production is interesting.

Not heard it before though!

There's only the ones you like and the ones you don't.

Mick

*I take it that folk are familiar with Trade Martin's highly political "ground zero" protest effort?

Wouldn't want to get into that one really.

I'M A SUCKER FOR THAT GIRLY SOUND
