Has anyone mentioned Butch's Might Lovers C/U?

For me the best dance floor discovery of the last 10 years. If you haven't heard this proper Northern monster you really don't know what you've missed.

BARBARA MERCER - HEY!!

EPITOME OF SOUND - YOU DON'T LOVE ME

LA NIERS - MORE THAN EVER NOW

UJIMA - I'M NOT READY (and I never am)

The Angels (AKA the laniers) on river city records .....god used to play this all the time in the early Friendship days absoluetly greeat tune, tricky to dance to and gets the old lungs going

Tunes that get me up dancing....millions of em ....but tunes that make me really get down .....Got to give it up - Marvin Gaye, brilliance..

and...AGADOOO ....LOL who hasnt when your pissed...

Geeoooordie

The Specials - I Can't Find Another -Part1

Betty Wright - Mr Lucky

Soul Inc - My Proposal

Loads more.... But these are the last three that had me vaulting chairs, breaking off conversations ect to chuck myself around the maple :)

been trying to track down a copy of it, Sebastian Nilsson from Sweden played it on the last Backstreet night here in Copenhagen and it was my last official dance of the evening. good one to go out on though! not massively rare but also not widely known I think, and thus hard to pin a copy down.

Billy Arnell - Tough Girl

Jon Ford - You Got Me Where You Want Me

The following always make me head for the floor

My Three for what its worth.

Larry Davis - I've Been Hurt So Many Times (Kent 4519) 1969

Kurt Harris - Emperor Of My Babys Heart (Diamond 158) 1964

Last but not least

Hopkins Bros - Shake Cheri (Magnetik 419) 1970

Like everyone else says loads more & I totally agree with a lot of the sounds that have already been put up.

  • 2 weeks later...

Like the answer in another topic regarding your all time top ten. Sounds that 'grab you' can change over time, but I'll stick with these three as must dance sounds

Yvonne Baker - You didn't say a word

Williams & Watson - Too Late

Timi Yuro - It'l never be over for me

  • 4 weeks later...

Mel Britt "She'll come running back"

Mandrill "To Late"

Natural Four "I thought you were mine" (Boola Boola mix)

For as long as I can remember these 3 have always captured my attention and got me on the floor, from the moment the album arrived I regarded Mandrill as one the finest 70's soul tunes ever recorded, and to this day that view hasnt changed.

Gouch

Freddie Chavez-They'll Never Know Why, Howard Guyton-I Watched You Slowly Slip Away, Chapter 5-You Can't Mean It, Joannie Sommers-Don't Pity Me. Phew! Knackered already!;-)

I

It can change from day to day for me revolving round round a certain set, just one record is a bit restrictive but for me ,today as they said in the fast show...

I shall be doing ! as my nomination ...

Alice Clark You hit me right where it hurt......

An absolute phooking belter Loved it dearly for many years and as "they ",as said "they",do say," I guess I always will",for its a stormer and its got it all,and it has taken me to the "mountain top ",on many a fine occasion .In fact Im off to put it on now.!carpet needs a good going over with the soles of me moccasin slippers!
