I've always had a soft spot for the school bell that rings at the beginning of Ronnie McNeir's

Actually, at a slight tangent, on Clarence Murray's "Don't Talk Like That" on SSS International, the record starts with a 1,2 - 1,2,3,4 count in. There is a clearly audible cough between the 1 & the 2.

That always appealed to me and makes it real - particularly since it stresses that most of the music we love was done "on the cheap" and in one take.

John.

The strings in Big Dee Irwin " You Satisfy my needs ", and the intro to Jimmy Soul Clark " I'll be your champion " Wonderful stuff....... ph34r.gif

I don't know if you would call them sound effects but the piano in Lookey,Lookey the start of here I go Again & most of Harlem Shuffle - Ade

The Carstairs vomiting during It Really Hurts Me Girl.

Oh hang on, that's their singing...

Think you were right first time Pete! Only they weren't the first to do so.............just listen to "I Lost A True Love" by Danny Wagner! whistling.gif

For all you fans of the telephone system. Forget Johnny Baker's 'Operator Operator', or the Light Drivers or Tony and Tyrone. The real deal must be Gene Faith's 'Call the FBI' you hear the money going into the phone box, the full dialled number, then the operator before he even gets through to the FBI to report his baby missing. Brilliant.

The frog like noises on David Sea "Night after Night" Crown Int biggrin.gif

Wasn't it one of simple simons Earl Wright Cover Ups Road to Ruin?

Paul

cool off

i am sure the guy opens a can of beer and pours it into a glass??

Shane

Anyone who has the late WIgan spin Connie Questell - Give Up Girl on DECCA must have heard that really odd sort of space age effect a the end of World of COnfusion on the flip. It sounds - almost other worldly.

Hammy

It might be pop because he says 'hey you over there, would you like a drink of...pop'

no hang on, he says would you like a drink of beer, you're right!

:wicked:

The strange snake charmer flute noise from the intro of I've got love for my baby by The Younghearts.

The sound of a woman sighing. Not on a record....but.......

Also check out the snake charmer who cuts in after 10 seconds on 'Independents - Lucky Fellow'

Just thought of another, but i wouldn't call it a favourite ! The "Mousie & the Traps" tune where half way through it breaks into the "Highland Fling" Could never get me head round that :wicked:

Can just imagine them at the final mix ! "Yeh lads, it's ok but something is missing !" "Any thoughts" " mmmm" "ahhh" "I KNOW BOSS, what prats we are! IT'S GOT NO BREAK IN THE MIDDLE FOR THE SCOTTISH LADS !!!"

The Harp at the begining of Linda Jones Just cant live my life....gets me going for the floor..then i remember i cant dance :wicked:

Geeoooordie

why are many members listing 'instruments' when the question was 'sound affects'??? laugh.gif

Shane

ps. just an observation :wicked::yes:

The car horns in Footsee (only joking ) The laugh in the Joker

Always been partial to Clarence Murrays cough too.

Come on shane .. way back when the sound effects were the instruments or some geezer rattling a chain or farting

Geeoooordie

intro Sweets - satisfy me baby, break in Martha Starrs - Love is the only solution, Rufus Wood - 2001 intro , Dickie Wonder intro (never heard congas sound as powerful as them) allready mentioned Ronnie McNeir are some of my faves

The start of Human Beinz - Nobody But Me

Yeah that's a good one. Was thinking of that as I was scrolling down.

Any uptempo dancer with a cow bell in it. Cow bell makes it a better dancer for me.

The door opening in Spooners Crowd- two in the morning

Always reminds me of arriving at a nighter

Lonette - Mind Intruder...........Spooky weirdness.............great dancer though!!!!!!!!!

Carl

The whistle at the start of New Girl-The Accents

Andy

The fearful clogging sound in September Jones (or B Sha Rae´s do it)

The B-side to Lena & the Deltanettes - Turnaround baby Uptown (He´s got the world in his corner or someth like that) has a great :wicked: ring gong sound every now and then. Should have put up file for this for Boxing day but was too late...

The dog that barks at the climax to One Wonderful Moment by the Shakers!

Has anyone mentioned Popcorn Wylie's (is it??) daughters shaking bicycle chains on Cool Off? Thats pretty cool.

I like the sound as well, I think its an alien ship taking off

The door opening in Spooners Crowd- two in the morning

Always reminds me of arriving at a nighter

and then the footsteps, I always imagine they are walking along a wet pavement for some reason, its a great opening I think

Best 'attempted' sound effect. If you listen to betty Llloyd - I'm catching on - she sings the lines "You've been breaking our dates, andneglecting to call", and when she says the word "call" there's a pathetic attempt at a telephone ringing in the background. There is, honestly!

The whistle at the start of New Girl-The Accents

Andy

here I go joining in days later, as usual. The kiss in the middle of Lonnie Russ "Say Girl" .......MWAH!

Broken heart attakc,on Smash.....sound of a heartbeats in the record
