Incredibles "another Dirty Deal"?

A few weeks ago Mick Howard and I picked up our guns and wandered over into Salford to see that Wigan Casino exhibition at the Peel museum. We'd gone up to sunny Wigan last year or so to see the much smaller version and was curious to see what had improved. Oh that Wigan trip was a great day my car broke down next to the Pier just as Wigan Ath were at home to Leeds U. Got towed home and landed with a thousand pound repair bill. I kicked off and got it reduced to only £450 but thats another story.....

Anyway on entering t'Salford gallery I heard the strains of the rather wonderful "Another dirty deal" eching around the room. What a wonderful melodic dancer - I love it - but was it ever played at Wigan? I don't want to get into a "yes it was Sat 31st July 1976 at 1.32am I was there" type discussion and I'm not being a nit picker either like "why did they play it in the gallery if it never got played at Wigan blah blah".

Suppose I'm just curious and wanted an excuse to talk about a record I like.

Don't know if it was played at Wigan Derek, but have heard it played here and there since Moses were a lad.

Last time though was at Worksop Town Hall, and I think played by Saus, in 1985 (circa) so well due a few more outings!

yes seem to remember miranda being not best pleased at having to drive over to wigan with the breakdown card that someone...........cough left back in sunny reddish,much more civilised day out at salford,some great anecdotes left in the guest book wasn't there and dave withers on the original footage looking very youthful and sounding very eloquent,if you've not been to the salford exhibition it's worth a look

Quality

I have been trying to collect this group over the years, the different label variations being something of a challenge, but most can be obtained at quite a low cost, value for money every time I'd say.

i.e. WHITE DEMO - DARK BLUE - LIGHT GREEN - MULTICOLOURED - PRE (AMY MALA BELL), etc

...Let's not forget the fantastic "Stop The Raindrops", either - John M has it listed at £20 but a bit of judicious shopping around should see it landed for half, or even less than half, of that (I got one only a couple of weeks ago, on the 'Bay, for $5.99....)

Definitely, shop around ... In my opinion they didn't make a bad record.

Iv'e been trying to remember about this as we used to play There's Nothing Else To Say at our Local Youth Club (we played almost 100% soul music, way back in 1969) - One of the other DJs had it on Stateside (Sadly not me) which had Heart and Soul on the B Side

Then an Import copy became available on Audio Arts and as I remember, the flip "Another Dirty Deal" was played a couple of times - In those days though, Imports were fairly hard to obtain and most, if lucky enough, would have had it on Stateside and not Audio Arts

As time went by although not an easy one to obtain more copies became available with this track on the B Side.

I used to, along with others DJ at our local, "The Drum" and carried up to 3 cases of records

gaining more and more Imports as time went by; Audio Arts 60006 being one of them

The Instrumental Era saw "There's Nothing Else To Say" come out as an Instrumental and was obviously played

Almost all of us had progressed from the Youth Club days through to Wigan, Cleethorpes etc

We played almost everything that we could from these venues, I remember spending most of my wages on records at the time. There was that much being discovered and as good as this track is I can't remember it played at our soul night.

However having said all that, I can't say if "Another Dirty Deal" was definitely played at Wigan, but if it wasn't it should have been.

For many years I only had 2 records by the Incredibles in my collection.

which were;

Audio Arts 60006 There's Nothing Else To Say / Another Dirty Deal.- White DEMO and

Audio Arts 60006 There's Nothing Else To Say / Another Dirty Deal - Light Green stock copy

I then realised that there was a (Pre Amy Mala Bell) White DEMO & Dark Blue stock copy, which I still haven't got.

I proceeded to purchase the Heart and Soul album and WOW how did I miss the rest.

I started to collect their other stuff on 45 and I like "I Found Another Love" (which also came out on Dark Blue & Green Labels)

They were Indeed - Incredible

and so much to collect too - Wonderful stuff, something for everyone
