A 1976 New York flipside that rose you to become a 70s Rare-Soul dance-monster across the UK & Europe. Little surprise really as the two driving forces behind this session are no strangers to the soulful-Dance sound.
Jerry Ross has a long list of 60s dance production to his credit - whilst the main contributor Jesus Alvarez a year early crafted the under-rated bu magnificent “Please Don’t Go” on Vibration Records.
Before you today is an utterly impeccable PROMO copy of the type of dance tune that it is possible to make when talent people take to the studio. Ignoring all temptations to bedeck the session with any of the crass disco effects that polluted great soul records of the mid-70s.
This is pure uplifting, dancefloor igniting 70s rare-dance, who’s reputation has held firm for over 3 decades..
You may never encounter a finer copy.

The things you do when your young… and the interesting way both your own and friends lives pan out.
In 1970 when the “Bradford Market” avalanche of USA 45s caused a feeding frenzy, with it’s arm fulls of Verve, MGM 45s and a smattering of records in the quality of The Salvadors etc. it changed the face of Northern Soul over night as The Shalimars, Superiors, The Tymes etc. etc. became “Torch” monsters.
Luckily my close friend Peter Kendall was currently at Leeds University, so off to Bradford he went to have his share of the vinyl-free-for-all, when he came home to Melton Mowbray he was armed with two copies of this previously unknown Motown-styled dancer by Alice Clark.
Peter wanted a faded Levi Jacket and I desperately wanted Alice.. but I didn’t have a threadbare Levi but I knew a man who did.. My Brother had one, so as he snoozed I sneaked and “borrowed” his jacket - and the deal was done!!
“Seen my Levi Jacket Bro?”
“Nope..are sure you haven’t left it in the Pub”
My Brother had no comprehension of a 17 year old’s vinyl-lust or the lengths a youngster would go for ownership - which I soon found out when I received a thick ear… unfortunately Peter walked in the pub wearing his purloined denim…
Ouch ..that was a lesson learned… Peter, went on to head-up MARS-AUSTRALIA ….me, I’m still hanging around Pub coat-pegs in Pork Pie land!

Strap yourself in - buckle up! Richard Hite and his Soul Rockers are about to take you on a R&B Roller-Coaster to dancefloor mayhem.
Relentless, snarling, convincing Chicago Blues with a driving arrangement. It’ll creep under your skin, dig in it’s claws and never let you go.
A R&B Beast of a tune..
Impossibly clean condition & rare in the extreme!
needs securing ASAP before some other “Outside The Box” Jock does..

This week’s “Black Is Beautiful” candidate is a Wigan Casino & Cleethorpes Pier anthem that became something of Northern Soul Girl-Anthem as the lyrics inspired the ladies and simultaneously packed the floors at both these iconic clubs during 1974 to 1976 then succumbing to a horrid red label Los Angeles bootleg.
What pleases me about this offering is not only the euphoric recall the stylus gives us, but also the stunning condition of the vinyl and those striking black labels all of which are impeccable.
Last but not least is the then overlooked flipside, that today fits the “BEAT BALLAD HEAVEN” tag perfectly, as Valerie Simpson, Nicholas Ashford & Joshie Jo Armstead composition is givenMarie Knight’s usual uncompromising working over.
Looks beautiful doesn’t it…

SUE EP’s - oh so collectable!
First side featuring his 1964 Bethlehem 3083 release with The Pinetoppers backing up the great man. Two raucous no holds-barred screamers.
The flipside features Otis’s Trans World/Finer Arts label release “She’s Alright” when he headed up the vocals with The Shooters. Final tack is the obscurest track on the EP supported by Little Joe Curtis “Gettin Hip” is one of Otis’s hardest 45’s to find as an original.
It’s SUE it’s Otis and it’s irrestible!
Check out the compelling front cover, the alluring SUE label and the back cover which unusually is free of writing, tears or stains.
Lovely clean example and a fine tribute to who many consider the “voice” of 60s Soul.
