Me and Grace watched Mary Poppins a couple of weeks ago when she was poorly. How bad is Dick Van Dyke, I know it's a long running joke but someone should have dubbed his voice. Also it seems about 30 minutes too long. This was the first film I ever saw at the pictures, 1964, Weston Super Mare.

Such a brilliant record that Alone Again Or.  I have tried so many times to listen to Forever Changes but I still can't get it into it.

As she alluded to Elton John is a massive soul fan, and by all accounts used to visit The Wheel in the late 60s before he made it big whenever he was gigging in the North West!

A guy I used to know, Andy Vaughan, who came from Ince just outside of Wigan was a big Wigan Athletics fan, and along with co-creating and contributing to The Mudhutter Latics fanzine/website, he's started writing books.

One of his first that he co-authored was Pies and Prejudice in 2005, and he doesn't have many kind words to say about Stuart Maconie, who some of you will know had a book published with that same title in 2007.

Just googled him to check back and I've seen he has a new book out called Faded Lois Dreams.

I had to turn Stuart Maconie off the other day, I thought I'd tuned into Radio South Lancashire by mistake. I think the bloke forgets he has a national audience, either that or his knowledge of anything doesn't extend beyond a 20 mile radius of Wigan.

Show seems to be more about Texas in last quarter hour.

So a welcome show, glad it was done. Fun to comment on. A bit more care needed on ensuring right versions. Hopefully it will inspire more.

I think it may have been an echo back to her performing that track with William Bell a year or two back on Jools' Hootenanny. Loved seeing/hearing him performing 'Happy' this time round!

You could well be right sir, but given the fact the casino did not close till december 81 and many a pop thing were around as demos or smaller runs before it actually charted i could be right, or maybe i heard him play it somewhere else, as another poster pointed out who also heard him play it. Either way it's crap and should stay in the wayne gibson box.

Say what you want about Craig Charles byt he did Steve wright's afternoon show on friday - normally strictly an average white guy zone, and for daytime radio, the music was great. About 80% black music, pop and lesser known stuff.. about the ratio it would be if programming were based on quality of music.

It was like a parallel universe where racism had never happened, he obviously makes certain demands and good on him

He does seem to like Queen a  bit too much though

Radio 2 has been brilliant this last week or so

And there was some interesting and quite remarkable news announced yseterday - Tony Blackburn's Pick Of The Pops old chart show, gets double the listeners of Radio 1's top 40 rundown.

Twenty years ago, the top 20 rundown used to get over 15 million listeners and 40 years ago I think it was over 20 million.

He got 'ordinary joe' played on national daytime radio, he the man as far as I'm concerned. And I've never listened to his funk show without hearing at least one great new release.
