Following on from the huge success of the "Show us your bird and wildlife photos" thread (some 31 pages and a staggering +1500 posts), I thought it time to start a "part 2".

As we don't always have the opportunities to take bird or wildlife photos, but nonetheless might be taking great photos of other things, I  thought a broader approach might encourage even more people to share their top photos.

They can be anything to do with nature, landscapes, outdoors, indoors, superb holiday snaps - basically, whatever. If you think it's a good photo and you want to share it, this is the place.

Here's three from me...

Goose - seen showing off in the woods of Amsterdam.

Sunset - as seen from our balcony last summer.

post-9478-0-94690100-1420808380_thumb.jp

Filey, N Yorks - what a beautiful place. We were here for my younger brother's wedding.

Great picture Steve. The storm is causing real problems for many people isn't it - not a great lead  up to Christmas for those who have suffered flood or wind damage. We've had high winds here in Notts but have been spared the torrential rain. It's also very mild - 13 degrees today, and the wind is dropping.

Must admit to having a soft spot for setting up and taking Christmassy shots like this one of a snowman in his snow globe (although to me it kind of looks like a snowman stepping through some sort of space/time portal!).

The green effect in the background comes from a small light-up tree decoration, which I placed behind and I used a small torch to provide some side light and to create some shadow at the same time. Camera on a tripod… room lights off… click, click, click… and away you go!

She's a pretty girl Chris as well as being an obviously talented footballer.

Here's a few from me of a Long eared owl, another first, taken today at Burton Mere RSPB reserve. these pictures where taken balancing on one knee trying not to sink my other leg up to my calf in mud. Why do they never make it easy

Gutted about the twig across the left hand side of the owls face, but there's always the next time, the next picture.

Steve, nothing you can do about them hiding in trees, especially Owls, they would be buggers to play hide and seek with.

That is a rare bird to see, so any photo of it is a bonus

There's quite a lot of them on the fens, my father is always going on about them, mind you as a gamekeeper he blames any raptor for taking partridge and pheasant chicks, when it's possibly a mink, stoat, weasel or even otter.

Foxes get the blame round our way.Even for otter damage.they love to eat eggs and baby birds.

Martyn. Its only I think the second maybe third time that I've actually seen a long eared owl but the first time when I've had a camera with me. was well chuffed . Now if I could only turn back time for all the times that I've seen barn owls and tawnies when I never had a camera.

Steve have you seen a short eared owl? They are very erratic during flight.

Yes Chris. Only recently for the first time, They seem to be very common in the Northwest this year. They must have had a very successful breeding season last year. They have such a distinctive round face when flying. Not had any opportunities to photograph them though, but here's hoping its soon. Bet they're common in the fens with that habitat.

I'm a bit further east in Norfolk than the fens but they seem to thrive here too.

I did hear that Tengmalm's Owl was back in Norfolk, that's one I'd like to see thrive

I love this photograph. A quality printed copy of that would look great in a frame in anyone's wall.

Well done mate.
