:hatsoff2:WOULD YOU ADAM & EVE IT, THE MACHINE IS BACK, AS YOU MAY BE AWARE MY MANY YEARS OF LIVING THE HIGH LIFE ON THE RARE SOUL SCENE WITH IT'S ALL NIGHTERS & ALL DAYERS, ESPECIALLY BACK IN THE 1970s, WHEN I LIVED IN LETCHWORTH, MY WEEK WOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:- THURSDAY NIGHT, GO TO BEDFORD WITH MICK SMITH, FRIDAY WIGAN OLDIES BUYING & SELLING 45s IN THE BAR WITH MICK SMITH, ADY C, & PETE WID,  SATURDAY NIGHT BLACKPOOL MECCA (OR AS I USE TO SAY, GOING TO BLOCKPOOL TO SEE THE HALLUCINATONS). THEN ON TO WIGAN ALL NIGHTER, SUNDAY THE RITZ OR CAT WHISKERS OR SAMANTHAS ALL DAYERS, THEN MAKE MY WAY HOME, SO COMPARED TO SOME PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN THE NORTH, US FROM THE SOUTH REALLY HAD TO BE PASSIONETTE ABOUT SOUL MUSIC...OR BLOCKED?

SO THE LAST FEW MONTHS, MY HEALTH HAS WORSENED, WITH TYPE 2 DIABETIS WHICH HAS LEFT ME WITH 50/50 CHANCE OF LOSING MY LOWER LEGS, SUSPECTED BOWL CANCER, HEP B&C, MY ADDICTION ISSUE PLUS OTHER STUFF, ALL LEADING ME HAVING TO TAKE 47 DIFFERANT TABLETS EVERY DAY, THEN THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH MY LAPTOP SCREEN, AFTER ME PUTTING MY FIST THROUGH IT LAST jANUARY AS I WAS IN A SULKING MOOD, BUT NOW I'M BACK, AS I have no sound files for these 3, if someone could put them on for me,

However I must show you the Craig Douglas on Indian $tateside don't know how rare it is but my copy is the only one i've seen, VALUE PLEASE

AT THIS TIME I MUST THANK YOU ALL FOR KEEPING THE CLUB ALIVE, SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO MIKE & A BIG THANKS TO KEV. I HOPE TO GET HIM A PINT IF HE GETS HIMSELF DOWN TO THE STABLE, JOHNNY BEGGS GETS THERE?

SO HERE WE GO AGAIN, IT SEEMS THAT KEV MADE NO RULES FOR THIS THREAD THAT'S COOL, HOWEVER I STILL BELEIVE THAT ANY RECORD ON THIS THREAD, YOU SHOULD OWN A COPY (thats what the club is all about. picking a 45 from  your collection, it does not matter if rare, northern, beat ballard, funk, motown, or JA Soul, my preferance is rare UK SOUL & classic northern origanals).Scan_20170323.thumb.png.5c9c0462172b53224892df07625a763e.png

That's what sold me on it Martyn.

I note that the new Coalminers' Groovadelic compilation LP , contains a few tracks highlighting that West Coast Garage "sound".

In case anyone's interested see here.

Form the pen of Philip Mitchell a bit of Stax from me today. Superb vocals from the beautiful Carla Thomas - Love Among The People. Bit quiet tonight - lets be having yer!

Looks like I'm playing to an empty dance floor! :( Gonna end with another album only, absolutely sublime soul record. The brilliant Bobby Taylor - Don't Be Afraid.

Very underrated.

Can't understand myself, why this hasn't ever been included in any of the Stax/Volt , Kent crossover CD compilations.

Excellent choice.

Another one for the soul cops.

A very off the wall UK only production, seldom comes up for sale, which some might say is a good thing.

Robert Henley Hensley UK Polydor, Baby you're gonna to see me cry.

Finally got round to playing this one - Hull City Hall on Saturday and yesterday on the radio show - guess will be getting further spins from me .

:hatsoff2:HI ALL...How many versions of "my babe" are there?, this is one of the best, a gritty sound and a quality R&B backing that takes me back to my first year as a teenager (13 yrs of age!) my sister who was an original MOD would dance to this,  As you can imagine this version typifies that classic MOD sound of R&B that paved it's way to make the RARE SOUL SCENE, So I think you should be proud of the London MODS of 1963/4 for establishing the Hart & Soul of what has made life so good.

At times I think I'm getting soft in my old age?.. ANYWAY heres a copy I picked up 2 weeks ago in minty condition but NOC,  if you like this 45 this spare could be yours for the right trade or i might make it a prize in a future competition, as I have not done one for a long time,

HERE IS MY COPY

Evening All :hatsoff2:

This might have been posted before but, as per the rules, I've just managed to get one, so new to the collection so I'll chance my arm and post it up. I've wanted one for ages, and it takes me right back to Poke's sets at Clifton Hall. A true dancers record. Thanks to a real gentleman for helping me out once again with a great deal - he's a top DJ too. I've added a few nice things recently and I'm at that proverbial collectors crossroad - do I continue investing in my collection, and start investing in cataloguing and storing it properly, or should I stop? :g:

Anyway, apologies, I'm digressing. The Pretenders - Just Be Yourself. Awesome.

Pete

That's amazing news Kev. Time passes so quickly - I remember us becoming acquainted on here when you were having your treatment. I've not been well this last year and still having tests.

I shall take strength from your determination. All the best mate.

HI ALL.... Not had much time in the record room However I got into the mood of playing good 6t's SOUL that should be played more often. As a keen collector of soul on UK labels I thought that I would revive some of the good stuff, what better than the Kelly Brothers who had only a few 45s in the UK on different label, before I go on I must mention that the Kelly Brothers President LP is a must have (if you can find a copy) back to the 45 Hanging in there is also issued on President records #143 released in 68.

The 45's below are mine, the other one on BLUE HORIZON I will put up  later. KTF Dave K
