:hatsoff2:WOULD YOU ADAM & EVE IT, THE MACHINE IS BACK, AS YOU MAY BE AWARE MY MANY YEARS OF LIVING THE HIGH LIFE ON THE RARE SOUL SCENE WITH IT'S ALL NIGHTERS & ALL DAYERS, ESPECIALLY BACK IN THE 1970s, WHEN I LIVED IN LETCHWORTH, MY WEEK WOULD BE SOMETHING LIKE THIS:- THURSDAY NIGHT, GO TO BEDFORD WITH MICK SMITH, FRIDAY WIGAN OLDIES BUYING & SELLING 45s IN THE BAR WITH MICK SMITH, ADY C, & PETE WID,  SATURDAY NIGHT BLACKPOOL MECCA (OR AS I USE TO SAY, GOING TO BLOCKPOOL TO SEE THE HALLUCINATONS). THEN ON TO WIGAN ALL NIGHTER, SUNDAY THE RITZ OR CAT WHISKERS OR SAMANTHAS ALL DAYERS, THEN MAKE MY WAY HOME, SO COMPARED TO SOME PEOPLE WHO LIVED IN THE NORTH, US FROM THE SOUTH REALLY HAD TO BE PASSIONETTE ABOUT SOUL MUSIC...OR BLOCKED?

SO THE LAST FEW MONTHS, MY HEALTH HAS WORSENED, WITH TYPE 2 DIABETIS WHICH HAS LEFT ME WITH 50/50 CHANCE OF LOSING MY LOWER LEGS, SUSPECTED BOWL CANCER, HEP B&C, MY ADDICTION ISSUE PLUS OTHER STUFF, ALL LEADING ME HAVING TO TAKE 47 DIFFERANT TABLETS EVERY DAY, THEN THERE WAS A ISSUE WITH MY LAPTOP SCREEN, AFTER ME PUTTING MY FIST THROUGH IT LAST jANUARY AS I WAS IN A SULKING MOOD, BUT NOW I'M BACK, AS I have no sound files for these 3, if someone could put them on for me,

However I must show you the Craig Douglas on Indian $tateside don't know how rare it is but my copy is the only one i've seen, VALUE PLEASE

AT THIS TIME I MUST THANK YOU ALL FOR KEEPING THE CLUB ALIVE, SPECIAL THANKS GOES TO MIKE & A BIG THANKS TO KEV. I HOPE TO GET HIM A PINT IF HE GETS HIMSELF DOWN TO THE STABLE, JOHNNY BEGGS GETS THERE?

SO HERE WE GO AGAIN, IT SEEMS THAT KEV MADE NO RULES FOR THIS THREAD THAT'S COOL, HOWEVER I STILL BELEIVE THAT ANY RECORD ON THIS THREAD, YOU SHOULD OWN A COPY (thats what the club is all about. picking a 45 from  your collection, it does not matter if rare, northern, beat ballard, funk, motown, or JA Soul, my preferance is rare UK SOUL & classic northern origanals).Scan_20170323.thumb.png.5c9c0462172b53224892df07625a763e.png

Great track this. Did it actually come out on 45?

A lovely bit of blue eyed soul from Jack Moves. This is a very pleasant 2010 cover of the Ledgends original 1970? version on Red Balloon which is impossible to find.

Pleased you like it, obscure but not rare and on the plus side not expensive.Try to post the not so obvious when i can, more interesting, could do with re-activating me thinks.

I honestly thought this was an LP only tune, and not cheap either, that 45 looks like a mock up label doesn't it?

I think it is LP only. Unlike some of the other great tracks on there which did escape onto 45's.

One of my favourite girl groups.

Wonderful spin from Archie Bell and the Drells - My Balloon's Going Up  :hatsoff2:

Don't generally post 60's stuff but I was really taken with this when I first started going to all niters in 1979 - it was a big, big record back then. Absolute stonker of a dance record with superb vocals, sax and horns. Lou Roberts and the Marks - You Fooled Me. Does it get played out today?

new to me, cracking record - love the shoes on the label, what are they?

Think ive posted this before in the distant past but this underplayed and very hard to get Northern stormer realy needs more exposure.

Another infectious slab of Dancefloor dynamite..Still a cheapie but getting a big following and demand is growing.

Never heard it till my time in the 80s Martyn so dont know the score but it would surprise me if it did get a Wigan Spin. The tempo and style was a step away from the traditional Northern sound an 80s vibe like so many stafford oldies that dont get accepted by todays scene. There is a fantastic clip on you tube of crazy Baz playing it out at a venue in the 80s ill see if i can track it down.

A change from me here with a 70s tune.Great social commentary in the lyrics that are still relevent today.Had this on 9 chains demo for a while not heard it played out for many years

Got Cleethorpes written all over it Rick.

Spinning a few tonight - in and out of the garden, having a good drink up and making take away curry for ten people at work, which I will deliver on Monday. I've played this before but have just had it banging out here - just right for my mood tonight. A bit of Chicago soul, The Chimes - Beginning of My Life.

Thanks Chris and Peter for you comments, they are always most welcome and Chris i will see what i can do and will continue to post stuff from that era as for me it was the best, very experimental and nothing fazed me, I always played what i believed in and still do,

So this morning i have pulled another one out of that same box, The Wonderful Betty Fikes and passions Prove It Which was also very popular at the Blackpool Mecca. ENJOY! PS The other side of this is sublime SOUL mmmmmm

Rick

As The Mecca & Cleggy are often mention in the same breath, was there tunes first played at Cleggy that became biggies at The Mecca or was it all one way from Blackpool to Cleethorpes?

Cheers

Fantastic track that Rick, new to me.

See one sold on here a couple of years ago for £1200 so well out of my price bracket. Some boots on discogs and even they are £50+

Great stuff Martyn - bought it one time at Keele from Roger Banks for £6 and still around for not much more - a lot of record for the money IMO

Loving this one at the moment, rarely off the turntable for long.

The Friends of Distinction 'Long time coming my way (RCA), apparently an old Pat Brady Clifton Hall spin
