Guest vinylvixen
I'd like to highlight Chris and Marcelle's attitude as somthing all on the scene should look up to. Not only do they have an event on the same night as Soul Revolution, they also allowed me to flyer and put posters up at their allnighters. When I questioned chris about why he allowed me to do this he said "Look kiddo, we all love the music, people will choose where they want to go, you're welcome to promote it at my events." That is the reason New Century events are successfull, because they love the music and the people on the scene know this and support them. Chris and Marcelle have always had this policy and support anything and everything that they believe can benefit the scene. Top people So you are trying to take from a charity James, is there a website where donations can be made for those of us who can't make the night? Thanks, Jo Link to comment

Right in the heart of your "manor" as well Over at the fryer-mantis 'soul and funk' message board there is a link at the top to auctions that many of us donated records to with the money from that and from a link to a paypal account that people have made donations to all going to Oliver and Giorgi. You quickly find out what really motivates people and like you I'm unforgving when they show their true colours Thanks for that Andy, I would like to think that it is just myself and others who have noticed it being paranoid. No, your right Stevie, I shouldn't have posted, I'll blame all the coffee I've been drinking trying to recover from my 2am till 7am DJ set I did on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Would be nice to think that people are taking them because they like them, even if it is right at the start of the night. Anoying though, as they only have to ask and I'll give them a poster, like I have to a few people who have asked for them... You're right to correct Wrighty as well, I'm sure it'll be far from a 'chill out' in the Soul Or Nothing Suite. I think the venue calls it and uses it as a 'chillout' room at the moment for their other events, and called it that when they showed Ian around, hence him useing that phrase... Me and the missus are turning up at 7pm on the train (if it's on time), so could do with somewhere to 'warm up' It's only a few meters from the Bedroom on Curtain Road (see the map on the Soul Revolution website helpfully marked Curtain st rather than road, whoops). I think we will have to finish DJing there around 8pm as they have resident DJs on at around that time, but I'll see how long we can carry on for if I wave a ticket or two in their direction... It's a pretty nice place to be anyway and probably as good a meeting place as anywhere IMO. If the resident DJs come on around that time and start playing anything offensive there's always the more traditional pub over the road on the corner... The Pool Bar looks like this: I'm also going to concider getting The Soul Or Nothing Room in the Bedroom open earlier, like around 8pm, if I can't get the Pool Bar to let us have the decks a little longer than 8. But I'll let everyone know once I've been down there on Wednesday to finalise a few details... Edited February 20, 2007 by James Trouble Link to comment

Guest James Trouble
Just to let folk know about the ticket situation... I can probably allow another 125 advance tickets go, well 124 as we really should save a space for Simon who sadly can't be with us What I haven't told many people is that the official capacity is 700, but we are keeping it at 550 to allow space for the dancers. I am about to go to the post box now with this morning's sales and I will do one more post out this afternoon. After that I will hold any more advance ticket sales on the door. I will also be popping into Soul In The City tonight and I will have tickets on me there. Three more days to go... Edited February 21, 2007 by James Trouble Link to comment

And Florence Trapp was a stafford spin I believe? Dolly Gilmore is getting plenty of spins on the northern scene at the moment as well, and Rhetta Hughes is very popular amongst northern collectors. There are more than a few on there which would be well received by most on the northern scene, but all are well received by lovers of soul music.
