Jerry Butler - The Right Track

the question being which brothers version do you prefer nowadays... ?

There's only one definitive version. Billy Butlers is the one and only as far as I'm concerned. NO comparison, and NO arguments! One of THE all-time classics, spanning the Wheel, Torch, Casino, and a score of other wonderful places. To those of us of a certain vintage, it brings back memories by the thousands.

the definitive version, yeah sure

think we all know and would agree on that take

but the poll question actually is more to do with which version do you prefer

Never heard the Jerry Butler version before and I like it. What a voice! Not sure if it's better though.

Just love Billy Butlers version as it  is a Classic. But today Jerry Butler Tips It for me, Why? as Mal C says, It's refreshing and i think so right for todays Soul Scene,

as never really had the exposure of Billys version and a completely different feel, musically, vocally and production wise, and oh yes, It's Cool As Ice!

I rather think that I made my preference plain for all to see, regardless of the level of subtlety contained in the question. As I said, "NO comparison, NO argument". And no matter how much I love just about everything the guy ever did, Jerrys version can be as fresh as fresh can be but it still can't hold a candle to Billys, sorry!

They should have Both got into the studio and recorded a Duet Version of it, Now THAT would have been interesting! 😯

Jerry is great, but it's the first time hearing for me also? How is that possible? Denise LaSalle?

Billy hand's down for me, One Hell Of A Dancer, gee that's worn out some Shoe Leather over the Years...

 

Billy's version is a classic, no doubt about it, but I think I'd rather listen to Jerry's version these days.
