Guest Craig the Manc
What can you say about this venue that hasn't already been said.... Top People, Top Tunes, Top Venue, Top Promoter, TOP NOTCH. Not to sure if i should compare Kenny Thomas along side Edwin Starr, but the reason I'd go this far is that these are two performers who can really sing without the use of gimic's. No electronic gizmo's on vocal's for either and I'd rate Kenny's voice along with ANY top soul performer. Really enjoyed going back stage and talking with a trully authentic and genuine guy. If you get the chance to see him, DONT hesitate. A message to Mr McCabe ....Keep it going mate and thanks for another memorable night. Cheers Craig Oh, if Flanny reads this, you didn't get that pint in for using the turntable in the record bar.. Link to comment

spot
WHAT WITH NEW PC & BLEEDING DOOR KNOCKERS THIS IS NOW THIRD TIME I`VE TRIED TO PUT DOWN MY THOUGHTS & VIEWS ABOUT SATURDAYS NITER. WELL HERE IT IS ANDY WITH NO INTERUPTIONS. AS SAM COOKE SANG, "ANOTHER SATURDAY NIGHT & I AIN`T GOT NO MONEY, SPENT IT ALL GOING TO MIDDLETON", SORRY LAST BIT WAS MINE. GOT THERE EARLY ( DUCKED A LEAVING THE COUNTRY PARTY TO DO SO, SHAME.) LET THE WOMEN GO IN (WIND MIGHT DAMAGE HAIR!!) & TO PUB FOR A CHEAP BEER. WE APPEARED IN MAIN ROOM ABOUT 9:30 & I WAS SUPRISED HOW FEW WERE IN & WAS A LITTLE COCERNED FOR THE "BIG MAC", NOT TO WORRY THOUGH IT FILLED UP NICELY THROUGH THE NIGHT & THE PLACE WAS BUZZING BY 12:30 & ALL THE USUAL SUSPECTS & A FEW MORE WERE IN. I WANDERED FOR ACOUPLE OF HOURS CHATTING AS I WENT ON MY MERRY WAY, & MUST SAY IT WAS NICE TO SIT & CHEW THE FAT WITH SEAN CHAPMAN FOR 30 MIN`S OR SO, WHAT A NICE GUY & A GENT. THE REST OF MY TIME WAS SPENT DOING MY SOFT SHOE SHUFFLE  IN THE MAIN ROOM ( A LEGEND IN MY OWN MIND ) BUT I DID VENTURE IN THE "WILLINGHAM SUITE" TO LISTEN TO SOME EXCELLENT SOUNDS (EVEN SAW THE WIFE IN THERE) BUT SORRY IT TO SMALL A ROOM FOR ME & LIKE A SAUNA, & I ALREADY SWEAT LIKE A PIG ANYWAY SO IF I STAYED IN I`D BE GOING HOME AS A PUDDLE !! NEVER BOTHERED WITH R&B ROOM, JUST NOT MY THING, BUT MATES SAID IT WAS BANGING TO. ALL Dj`s IN THE MAIN ROOM WERE EXCELLENT, THEY NEVER FAIL TO PLEASE, CARL FORTNUM (WHERE`S MASON THESE DAY`S? JOKE) DID THE BEST SPOT I`VE HEARD HIM DO HERE, SAM ONCE AGAIN EXCELLED, JOHN "SPAG" WESTON (TOTALLY UNDERATED) WAS ACE & MOLLY DESERVES A MEDAL JUST FOR THE MILEAGE HE PUTS IN & ALSO THE COUPLE OF EXCELLENT SPOTS. BUT FOR ME THE STAR WAS THE MAIN ROOM VIRGIN, THE FLAN MAN (FLANNY) WHO WAS JUST SUPERB!!! FINALLY TO TOP IT ALL, THE "BIG MAC" DELIVERS US "K.T." (THOUGHT GAIL HAD SAID KFC, SO I WAS LIMBERING UP FOR CHICKEN IN A BASKET!! BUT I WASN`T DISAPPOINTED) NOW LIVE ACTS AREN`T MY THING USUALLY, BUT THIS GUY WAS GOOD, IN FACT HE WAS VERY GOOD & I`M GLAD I HUNG AROUND TO ENJOY HIS PERFORMANCE & THAT OF HIS DANCING GROUPIES TRACY & CLAIRE IN THE WINGS BACK STAGE.  YOU DID GOOD ANDY. SO THAT`S YOUR LOT, SET OFF HOME ABOUT 6:30 AS WE HAD TO DROP OFF A FRIEND, EXCEPT TO SAY I MANAGED TO BREAK MY TOOTH IN HALF DURING THE EVENING, SO NOT ONLY WAS IT A GOOD & EVENTFUL NIGHT BUT A BLOODY EXPENSIVE ONE ALSO, AS CROWNS AREN`T CHEAP (SODDING DENTIST`S, EVEN DICK TURPIN WORE A MASK!!) SEE YOU ON OUR NEXT SOUL ADVENTURE, TAKE CARE & BE SAFE, SPOT. Edited January 29, 2007 by spot Link to comment
Guest marge
Had a fantastic night. Long drive but my third time at Middleton after a long break on the scene, so the proof is in the mileage! A nighter that has everything for me, good venue, three rooms of good music to mill about in, good company, oldies, underplayed oldies, rnb, tries something different. Too tired to comment more... Thanks to everyone who signed Trev's 50th birthday card, he was chuffed to bits. Link to comment

Guest Soultown andy
This what i can remember fro soul sams spot excuse spellings MARGARET LITTLE STANLEY EVANS WE,VE GOT A GOOD THING GOING MATT LUCAS ,BABY YOUD BETTER GO GO ROBERT TANNER SWEET MEMORYS FLORECENT SMOG,ALL OF MY LIFE JOSEPH WEBSTER,MY LOVE IS SO STRONG MIXED FEELINGS,SHA LA LA ELIPSIS,PEOPLE BUTLERS,THERE GOES MY BABY URBAN BLUES PROJECT,WE ARE ONE DJ GENISIS,TRIBUTE TO BETTY DEEP SENSATION ,SOMEWHERE THERES A SOUL HEAVEN KING MOSSES,I GOT THE FEELIN BELITA WOODS ,FOOLISH GIRL APPOINTMENTS ,I SAW YOU THERE ERNEST DEAN EADIE,THINK IT OVER LUTHER INGRAM ,ALL THE SAME TO YOU BABE WILLIE J AND CO,BOOGIE WITH YOU BABY and it went down a storm. So another very busy weekend over i think there were 19 venues advertised on this site alone ,and add to that richard searlings 4 room king georges hall 11th anniversary only 20 mins away and it looks like most folks went exactly were they wanted to go.So all the doom and gloom talk seems premature as most venues seem to have been fairly full. Our next nite is 10th march so if you want to come along you will be very welcome and if you fancy one of the other excellent venues on the same date have a good one were ever you go.
