Thanks for posting, always interesting to read the final bids and what prices one theoretically could get for records..

Today was not to be the day I upgraded my cracked copy of Jackey Beavers.

My copy is signed by Jackey. I was told that he signed a few 'give aways' at a car saleroom promotion. Can anyone confirm this?

It only got this low price because of the missing centre. Great to play and enjoy but not very collectable to a high end buyer.

Surprised at Jock Mitchell going for as much to be honest, I know it’s hard to pick up in a “clean play” state but didn’t think it would be as much as that

Agreed...had it once, sold it..not a great record imho

Heard it first on one of Pat Brady's very early sales tapes (which I probably still have) and loved it from the off. Took me maybe 10 years or so to get a copy, which I would say is as clean(sound wise) as the one JM has just sold.

Love the flip as well (both versions on the same label), and have never understood why the 45 is not, and never has been, hugely popular. "Nomad (No mad) woman" is a brilliant mid-tempo/beat ballad of the highest order - all drama and stuffed full of Detroit emotion.

And now it's just ripe for these days where slower tempos and deeper musical emotions are appreciated. It's a 45 that's having its day - at last!

Got my copy of 'no mad woman' early nineties on a trade deal. Picked it up 'blind' as it's Jock Mitchell RIGHT ! Can't be bad. Opened the mailer, put the record on the turntable's platter and loved it from first the first note. 

Before tintenet nothing was audible with a 'click' and was astonished to hear Stewart Ames 'King For A Day' on J&W for the first time at a friend's place using that very same Jock Mitchell's 'no mad woman' backing track.

My friend just back from the usa with that record amongst many was implying that the american dealer told him that 'Angelina, Oh Angelina' was on Northern soul wants lists. Replied to know as I've heard it and that I hate it.

But as he is into Pop-Corn (we're in Belgium  ) he picked it up for the 'king for a day' side. Told him about that Jock Mitchell using that same backing track. That to this day I love. Stewart Ames singing still not for me.

    While I can't confirm that this happened, it is believable. "I Need My Baby" did well for Jackey in Grand Rapids and Battle Creek Michigan as you can see by these surveys, so it is possible he did promotion for the 45. Strangely enough, all of these stations are Pop stations !

Nice to see Jackie Beavers in these great charts, but if it got this far I wonder why is it so rare?

It's such a pity it's so hard to get this fantastic double sider!

There was a discussion about this some years back, so together with the charts above from The Yank should shed some more light on the record's past.

Styrene record. Paper label. Folk wrote their names or initials on them. Come party time, there’s a pile of 50 records on the carpet. The records are stacked 10 at a time on a portable Dancette player, spun, then dropped back in the pile. Ten spins and the styrene burn turns to a hiss. Ah well, stuck it in the metal rack and forget about it. Finally, the kids grow up and the records were chucked sleeveless in a box, then stuck in the basement to wait for the inevitable flood... It’s a miracle that any Jackie Beavers on Revilot survived. Those that eventually surfaced often have that ‘ghetto worn’ look that Detroit records have when uncovered in a yard-sale 50 years down the line.

its not so much rare as tough to find in nice condition. lots of beaters turned up over the years.. over 3k is mental imo
