Yet more sad news

Terry Hall RIP

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced.

Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls. His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity. Terry often left the stage at the end of The Specials’ life-affirming shows with three words…“Love Love Love”

Very sad news, you will be so missed- Gangsters lit up the musical landscape and Ghost Town is so relevant today R.I.P Terry.

Sad news to hear

The Specials were a great contribution to the music scene and Terry Hall was one cool guy. Rest in Peace x

I loved the Two Tone output, and have a fair few singles from the label, a real favourite was Nite Klub which has one of my all time favourite lyrics "I wont dance in a club like this, all the girls are slags and the beer tastes just like piss"

RIP Terry

I hunted down Ghost Town on YouTube in recent weeks. The current political climate reminds me of that era - and that song epitomises that time.

Never understood why two-tone  never really made a mainstream comeback like most genres do?

A sad loss.

Remember as a kid hearing 'gangsters' on the radio in 1979. But it was Madness that got me in 3 years later as I was more attracted to the skinhead side of things. But the Specials got a longer lasting hook on me. The first album period mostly. Especially while venturing deeper and deeper into the Jamaican music more and more the Specials had that "rough-er" right edge. More so than any other band then or even after FWIW.

5 stars band they were. R.I.P. Terry
