I'm not retired yet, but maybe combine this with a garden centre as I seem to frequent those more often.  Ps only cause I enjoy growing my own veg etc. Nothing to do with getting older 😁

Noticed it happening and wondered why is all-I'm 67 btw and still not afraid of the dark.

In the days when the P&O northern soul cruises organised by Keith Fletcher used to come from Hull to NL midweek twice a year, a chum here always organised a mini dayer in Amsterdam for anyone interested. They were invariably packed with punters from the boat. That took place on a Thursday afternoon (12 til 5pm when those on the cruise had to head back to the boat), so afternoon soul events are nothing new as far as I'm concerned. Always great fun, the mini dayers also gave me the opportunity to take a sales box and make a few Euros.

Happy days!

Don't see any harm in it personally. I have no real desire to Dj but myself and a mate have often talked about finding somewhere where like minded souls could meet in an afternoon and bring along a few records ,not just northern to play and listen and chat about soul music in all its genres. Dancefloor not a essential, kinda like when you have a couple of mates round . Before someone else says it I'd call it  Chin Strokers Corner  🤔🤔 😇

Nothing wrong with afternoon events. When clubs had to stop niters coz of council / police attention, they'd move to dayers instead & we were quite happy to go along to these ... though going to venues such as the Windmill in Rotherham on a hot sunny summer afternoon (with the sun sneaking round the room's curtains & lighting up the whole room) did rather dilute the atmosphere.

Some do's out our way are now Sunday afternoon / evening affairs & are great events -- the Banbury EASE YOUR MIND soul do being one such great venue.

So afternoons are fine with me (any day of the week too) ... mind you, I am 74.

Wednesdays are a very bland day so what a fine idea. Pubs are mainly free In The afternoons save from a few gambling maniacs screaming at horses.

Any self respecting publican would put on grits and chittlin.

Yep Wednesday afternoons in Rochdale and apparently a busy event. I would have a nosey if not working to be honest. Not much difference to attending events on a Sunday afternoon in bars or pubs.

Live and let live I say and let others enjoy what they are doing Tony 😁

Young Soul Rebels no more, its no more a cool sometimes edgy place to be. The only pills they will be popping will be for arthritis, blood pressure and any other old age ailment.
The scene we once knew has long since disappeared into the night.

Good luck to them. A lot of older people are also very lonely and if this gets them out to meet people, then it gets my vote. What doesn't get my vote are silly old buggers who still think "the scene" is an edgy thing. Keep those as your memories (while you still can remember).

The number of people pretending they are 18, coming out of a niter sh*t faced and looking like they have just been dug up is decreasing year upon year.  As I said the scene as we knew for many it has gone, many can get their fix without the drugs and wasting the best part of a week recovering.  Just enjoy what there is however you wish to enjoy it.

Yep, what I was saying.

I would assume this is the event details copied from the Events Section , sounds good to me , hope it's a success .
