  • Salvadors , Stick by me Baby,  South Side Chicago ghetto vibes, forget your dance hall memories, and appreciate what these records were really meant for and about  Kev

  • The Dell Larks Job opening

  • Another for the bassline initially, then those piano stabs, so atmospheric  one I remember from the 80's again with those evocatively atmospheric piano chords

Have we had James Fountain 'Seven day lover' yet?  memorable start if ever there was one. Or The Quantrells 'Show me the game of love' pure kitchen sink stuff ! Just cant wait for the best ending thread to start🙃

For me:

Frankie Beverley - wanted

Tamala Lewis - won’t say nothing

As a kid in the 70’s I’d hear these and dash for the dance floor. My tastes may have changed but these intros still make the hairs stand on end.

I know where you're coming from, these were both part of my teenage years.  Both quality records that still bring back fond memories of the Casino.

Growing up, my friends brother had a nice 50 box of 45's, which included Frankie Beverley, Freddie Chavez, Jerry Williams etc

Great days

Doris Troy ‘I’ll Do Anything’, Brenda Holloway ‘Crying Time’, Barbara McNair ‘Baby A Go Go’, Brown Bombers ‘Wait For Me’, Del Larks, all fab intros.

Right, these are still coming in, but Im going to count them all up, some excel work comin my way me thinks! then I'll create a vote of the top 3/5... and you can all go for broke over the weekend...!

May the best intro win!

Never heard this, Agree that intro is wonderful - wasn't expecting that song afterwards🤗

I reckon Harlem shuffle by Bob and Earl is worth a mention too.
