Saw Bob a few weeks ago at the Combermere  Alan C

We didn't have cars on our early niter trips, so usually took public transport (bus / train). When going to the Mojo niters (66/67), we'd hang out afterwards (Sunday morning) at Sheffield bus stn cafe (waiting for the 1st bus back to Donny). Then, as a big Sunday dinner would be forced on us if we went home, we'd usually crash for a few hours in a town centre cinema. When the Mojo closed, we turned to the Nite Owl (Leicester -- getting there by hitching or train usually). My mate Tom Sleight got to take us in his dad's car one week. We called at Leicester services (M1) on the Sunday morning. But after that stop, he blew the car's engine up, so we never got to use it again. Then the Owl was also closed, so it was the Wheel (going by train at first & then lifts in mate's cars). The ritual in Manc on Sunday mornings, was to wait around in the car park behind the Wheel while lads played niter sounds on Discatrons. We'd then head over to Piccadilly for the 1st available train back over to Yorkshire (or drive back mid morning).

Used to stop at services on way back from Blackpool Mecca to Manchester usually a pie or pasty that was all that was left. Wigan was back on train to Victoria station then in the Italian cafe just outside till the first buses started to get back to old Trafford. Can’t remember what we did on way back from clerthorpes. 

The funny thing was when I got to the services, I never wanted anything to eat after the allnighters😉

Hilton Park Services provided an alternative venue for punters frustrated by the Catacombs' 1a.m. closing time in mid 1973. With the Torch closed and Wigan yet to open, punters descended on the M6 in numbers to while away the early hours with animated conversation and discatrons before the grey light of dawn pulled them back to the more mundane routines of life.

Remember travelling to the Torch in Les Cokell's van when he got the 'horrors' and went into a service station toilet and wouldn't come out! We got him to throw the keys under the door and we proceeded on our way. We picked Les up later that morning on the way back😇😂

We used stop there in the late eighties early nineties, en route and retuning from Stoke on Trent, same S**T twenty years later! and my god did we all talk some S**T when we were coming down...

Can remember the mornings after Stafford , into Hilton Park , Tommo Rip , Martin , Woody and the slot machines , oh what chaos but bloody good fun 😊.

Bit of an institution that...we used to go 'services' when there was no nighter on coz...well it was only place open all night !!!!.... we weren't the only ones who had same idea lol

I remember a dodgy cafe near Victoria Station "Ali Bongos"?  Strangely no one had an appetite after the Casino hmmm?

Probably that one most of the clientele sat around with just coffees and adding lots of sugar, as I never partook of the substances for staying awake I usually had some toast looking forward to a good breakfast when I got home. Just had a search it was called espresso bongo

Ah that's it ! Maybe the other was our nickname for it 🤣

We used to go to the local Macclesfield bar scrap yard and buy a car for £10.got a nice bright yellow capri got everybody in about 7 of us and headed to wigan crazy days but so memorable, we gave our mate a lift back to Macclesfield and he had a full cast on his broken leg it took ages to get webby in but we got everybody home back to granellis cafe in Macclesfield where we all crashed out brill memories
