As I'm sick of repeating , once a listing has sold and been paid for it's removed from the page , when you're waiting for the stragglers to sell so you can get a complete screenshot sometimes a couple can get missed.

As the auctions always finish at the same time on the same day each week you could always visit the site and see for yourself.

Maybe this ought to be included in the Victor Meldrew thread too ... 🤣

Delola Carmichael is the steal here, in today’s crazy prices, thats really cheap at £146. Good record too..

Fred Hymes, sold mine for £650 two years ago, so thats what, it went for double the price this week. It sat on £250 for years, remember I sold my first copy for £350/400, then bought one back at £400, so I made ultimately £250 on it...

My thoughts are 250 is plenty for fred hymes I wouldn’t consider it rare and there were enough copies for everybody who wanted one.

 

and in recent times it’s had lots of hammer so a bit predictable for a DJ spot ?

I don’t disagreee with this but to me when a record is around in the qty this is then it’s time to look elsewhere when it comes to spending.  Dont see the point in paying current market price I don’t see the value in doing that.

The market was flooded with Fred Hymes copies in the early 2k. Think they all came from "Brookly-Born" (aka Rich Rosen). Allegedly old store stock.

There are two presses of this 45... It's on here as has been discussed at length before. But the later one, looks very bootish, if you get my meaning.

150 dollars if I remember right when exchange rate was 2 dollars to 1 pound ?

Yes I remember them on his list. I think they started about $60 until it became better known. He had plenty copies available, but I never bought one because he was repressing records and mixing them on his listings with originals, so I was never to sure about it being real.

The story goes that they were free copies made to give away at Frederick Hymes III live concerts!  You'll need to take that with a pinch of salt!

Fredrick hymes was said to have been booted but no one has ever come up with a copy for the price of a bootleg.

 

It is a modern version of the same song released by tonny hymes which is a slow version.

As said above all came from brooklyn born in the USA. 

Rumours of a yellow label release also but this was most probably down to a poor quality scan or photo

What do you call 'modern' ? The Frederick Hymes release was mentioned in Billboard magazine in March '71 , from a 2016 thread on here.

The tonny hymes is a 60s type slow track , I meant the Frederick.hymes was played more in the modern sets when it appeared rather than in the oldies dj sets

It's always struck me to be a similar thing to Charles Diamond.

The fella records it first in the 60's as Tonny Hymes and it does nothing , but having faith in his song he re-records a newer version a bit later in 1971 as Frederick.

I thought Frederick Hymes was played in progressive northern clubs in a similar way things like James bell were never really considered it a modern record.
