Sad news and again sincere condolences to family and friends. Sly certainly had me dancin' to the music, back in the day. But here is a track from the earlier "A Whole New Thing" album (1967).

RIP Sly.

I'll pick up a copy of his "Thank You" book, I imagine it will be a good read, anybody read it?

RIP Sly Stone . “Family Affair” just does it for me in a way very few records can . Kind of gets inside you . First heard it in The Servites Youth club cellar when it was released . Another one from that era I used to love was “Running Away “. Kind of Unique sound at the time .

An original and unique talent. Those early recordings were groundbreaking and highly influential.

it seems silly now, but i remember as 17 yr old when me & mates first heard Family Affair debating what exactly was being said at the line 'Newlywed a year ago, but you're still checking each other out'.

Thanks for the memories, great music. RIP
