Fair play chaps. Oh yeah, next time I see you Liam can you teach me how to do the splits like you do them, brilliant!! KEEP ON KEEPING ON. GEMMA.

April 7, 200817 yr Had good craic over in Germany, dont really give a shit if anyone hates the track, i dont mind it myself got a good beat with nice break and good old voice.. i've heard way worse in the charts so its a little refreshing. Being asked to dance LIVE in front of a viewing of over 5 million viewers was great laugh, all dancers northern soul lovers and Danielle was one of the dancers who featured in the 'ONce upon a time in wigan' Play...a lovely girl who could move also.. Jon Clarke and Paul Walker lots of you will know and Jill Davies and Beck Exley are also Manchester area soulies who've been attending events for years... Anyhoo back to Soul talk, who's coming to the Boutique on Friday? In Soul L
April 7, 200817 yr 1. I don't think it's crap. 2. Duffy is a good looker, I definitely wouldn't say no. 3. She's got a good voice & the track isn't bad. 4. I've heard worse in the last 35 years. 5. You lot need to see a doctor. 6. I'll get my coat.
April 7, 200817 yr What a load of Cack Pop Drivel I take it you're being ironic with the "pop" remark given your avatar is Bonnie Herman? Nice girly tune, but clearly out and out pop (indeed she later went on to record with the group Singers Unlimited - all easy listening, pop and jazz). Think Duffy's singing has more "soul" in it than Bonnie's effort. Given Bonnie is clearly blue eyed, I do wonder whether the people on here slagging Duffy would equally have dismissed Bonnie as "pop drivel" if they'd been around when she released Hush Don't Cry. Just a thought. Here's a LINK to an article on Singers Unlimited and a pic of Bonnie Herman (and the group). Apparently they were originally formed to record tunes for commercials! Rich
April 7, 200817 yr If anyone is interested, 2 Soul Sourcers, plus Jill, Paul Bs fiance were in Golgne last night , live on German TV. Think shes miming! I supplied Danielle one of the female dancers, she played Maxine in the play and Johns on there too! But what thanks do you get eh! You can buy me a pint Liam! For the record, I think its all positive stuff...keep on! Edited April 7, 200817 yr by paul-s
April 7, 200817 yr Author I see the dissenters are out in force about this as well. The thread was to let you look at some Northern Dancers live on the TV. Whats the problem? If you don't like reading about Duffy/The dancers, why have you read the thread Tricky? I am starting to agree with Paul B, some people on here are living wayyyy too much in the past. (Yes I know we are a retro type scene ) Our scene is going precisely nowhere at the moment. I believe numbers were down at Prestwich on Friday, the Burnley alll nighter is lauded as the place to be, but numbers are down there. Shall we just leave it to die, or do we do something about it. Gemma makes a comment. She is young, and her comments are immediately ridiculed! Need I say more? This scene has deteriorated so much in the last 12 months it is untrue. I think the narrow minded attitude of a lot of people on here will accelerate this decline. I've been on the scene for 38 years and I for one have well had enough of its backbiting. It has always been the same. The music will never die and I will always listen to it every day, as I have done for years. However I cannot think of a venue that excites me at the moment. (I'm too old for Beat Boutique!).

April 7, 200817 yr Think shes miming! I supplied Danielle one of the female dancers, she played Maxine in the play and Johns on there too! But what thanks do you get eh! You can buy me a pint Liam! As you probably know I come from what in the trade is called footsyland (east midlands) We constantly get slagged off for loving our oldies and being stuck in the past Yet this is gettin plays all over the local clubs and fills the floor I have it on good old vinyl ( original copy of course ) I happen to love it and of course the guys who did a sterling job in the video representing the face of todays northern soul scene I wouldnt deem it "pop drivel" I would class it as a new oldie Mand Paul sorry I couldn't edit your post off this one pc being gay!!! Btw I think its terrible you didnt get any credit for the supply of one of the female dancers from your play

Rich Come on Rich, chalk and cheese, Hush Don't Cry is a fantastic Northern Soul track, the Duffy track is a very average retro style pop song which doesn't deserve the coverage it's got. It's like comparing Dean Parrish's soul efforts against Tony Blackburns.
April 7, 200817 yr no, honest trev ,honest.....you gotta get this record.....have you seen the video with tony parker and danny dancing on it ...doing back flips and triple sukahara's with piked front and double salcos awesome I remember when Tony Parker hit his Sukahara's on that crossing barrier in Burnley in 74 tryin to leapfrog it bet he's got a couple of Duffey's now. hi tony mate only jokin

Given the choice, Id rather have 'Duffy' in my playbox. (hyperthetically of course! )
April 7, 200817 yr Think shes miming! I supplied Danielle one of the female dancers, she played Maxine in the play and Johns on there too! But what thanks do you get eh! You can buy me a pint Liam! I said it was a NORTHERN Soul record, big big difference. Yes, I put that on purpose cos I dont know what Northern soul is? But now you have defined it with Bonnie Herman, Im clear. Cheers. Obviously equals Cack!
April 7, 200817 yr Yes, I put that on purpose cos I dont know what Northern soul is? But now you have defined it with Bonnie Herman, Im clear. Cheers. Obviously equals Cack! So you're saying Bonnie Herman isn't a Northern Soul record?

April 7, 200817 yr Just spoke to John and he said that he told you that he got Danielle via me Liam. Given that she was the lead in my play, im suprised it didnt come up? Dont mind mate, but credit where its due and all that. Yes Liam credit where credits due!! I "supplied" my girlfiend for this show. And where's my thanks? Paul, not being funny mate but I know how much time and effort Liam has put into this and all you've done is pass on a phone number. I don't believe that entitles you to any credit really.
April 7, 200817 yr What I want to know is... why didn't you recommend me for the job instead of Danielle? Cause they would have to get rid of the others to keep up wi`ya`Joan, and your not a yoof like me is.
