Toodarnsoulful
Had good craic over in Germany, dont really give a shit if anyone hates the track, i dont mind it myself got a good beat with nice break and good old voice.. i've heard way worse in the charts so its a little refreshing. Being asked to dance LIVE in front of a viewing of over 5 million viewers was great laugh, all dancers northern soul lovers and Danielle was one of the dancers who featured in the 'ONce upon a time in wigan' Play...a lovely girl who could move also.. Jon Clarke and Paul Walker lots of you will know and Jill Davies and Beck Exley are also Manchester area soulies who've been attending events for years... Anyhoo back to Soul talk, who's coming to the Boutique on Friday? In Soul L Link to comment Social source share
macca
1. I don't think it's crap. 2. Duffy is a good looker, I definitely wouldn't say no. 3. She's got a good voice & the track isn't bad. 4. I've heard worse in the last 35 years. 5. You lot need to see a doctor. 6. I'll get my coat. Link to comment Social source share
Rich Buckley
What a load of Cack Pop Drivel I take it you're being ironic with the "pop" remark given your avatar is Bonnie Herman? Nice girly tune, but clearly out and out pop (indeed she later went on to record with the group Singers Unlimited - all easy listening, pop and jazz). Think Duffy's singing has more "soul" in it than Bonnie's effort. Given Bonnie is clearly blue eyed, I do wonder whether the people on here slagging Duffy would equally have dismissed Bonnie as "pop drivel" if they'd been around when she released Hush Don't Cry. Just a thought. Here's a LINK to an article on Singers Unlimited and a pic of Bonnie Herman (and the group). Apparently they were originally formed to record tunes for commercials! BrianB
I see the dissenters are out in force about this as well. The thread was to let you look at some Northern Dancers live on the TV. Whats the problem? If you don't like reading about Duffy/The dancers, why have you read the thread Tricky? I am starting to agree with Paul B, some people on here are living wayyyy too much in the past. (Yes I know we are a retro type scene ) Our scene is going precisely nowhere at the moment. I believe numbers were down at Prestwich on Friday, the Burnley alll nighter is lauded as the place to be, but numbers are down there. Shall we just leave it to die, or do we do something about it. Gemma makes a comment. She is young, and her comments are immediately ridiculed! Need I say more? This scene has deteriorated so much in the last 12 months it is untrue. I think the narrow minded attitude of a lot of people on here will accelerate this decline. I've been on the scene for 38 years and I for one have well had enough of its backbiting. It has always been the same. The music will never die and I will always listen to it every day, as I have done for years. However I cannot think of a venue that excites me at the moment. (I'm too old for Beat Boutique!). Link to comment Social source share

Rich Come on Rich, chalk and cheese, Hush Don't Cry is a fantastic Northern Soul track, the Duffy track is a very average retro style pop song which doesn't deserve the coverage it's got. It's like comparing Dean Parrish's soul efforts against Tony Blackburns. Link to comment Social source share
