There is a male vocal using the same backing track, with different lyrics, cant remember who it is tho! A well known artist "If I can't have you" might be the title? It is certainly the first line!

I have had an " intimate " listen to CM again via a sound clip on t'internet , as opposed to hearing it through speakers at a venue ( and that has not been since the old king died ) .......

What strikes me on this listening of " SD , FTW " , is that it carries the same backing track as Liza Mae's " I've Got a Juicy Mouth Baby " on Concept ........

So what is the connection between the two ?

No real connection between the three tracks, other than they all use the same backing tracks. Liza Mae's "I've Got A Juicy Mouth Baby" is the B-side of "The Watergate Jazz". Judging by the A-side title, I would date the Concept 45s at between 1972 - 1974 (to tie up with the Watergate Scandal), giving a difference of 6 to 8 years between Cody Michaels and the Concept outings.

There is also a FOURTH single with the same backing track: "Up Until The Night Time Comes" by Liza Mae, also on Concept.

Does anybody else know the Jan Snow song with the same backing, also on Concept--called "Someday I'll Land"? Can't find out much about this one, seems kinda crazy there are 5 songs with the same backing track! Thanks!

there is another 7 days 52 weeks by a male artist, think it's on rca? not sure, a bit poppish (as with cody) can't remember the artist but caveman pete watkins picked it up from raistrick earlier this year, it's the only copy i and others have heard of.

Concept was a strange label. Don't know for sure but it possibly has a connection to the people behind Merben.

To me each use of the Cody Michaels backing track is poor and the kind of thing that gives Northern Soul a bad name to outsiders but I am a fan of the Richie Cee 45 on the label "Games Too Cold Blues", which is a wonderfully orchestrated Philly ballad.

Mr Cee himself isn't the greatest singer in the world (like his labelmates) and there are distinctly dodgy vocal moments but the overall effect is tremendous.

I think deep soul aficionados Pat Biggerstaff or Les Fisher have posted it in Refosoul in the past.

There is, of course, another version, not yet mentioned!
