November 8, 200816 yr there is stuff like Lee Andrews "Cold grey dawn" and "Cant Get along without You" that only came out on Lost Nite. But Butlers first came out on Red then Blue text Phila lable as far as i know? steve blue first and red second..........altho red is rarer
November 8, 200816 yr blue first and red second..........altho red is rarer I thought that the red was first and got withdrawn because it was misspelt the Bulters
November 8, 200816 yr I thought that the red was first and got withdrawn because it was misspelt the Bulters red is the first as far as I'm aware.
November 8, 200816 yr I thought that the red was first and got withdrawn because it was misspelt the Bulters That's what I thought too, mine is red and spelt "Bulters"
November 8, 200816 yr red is the first as far as I'm aware. evidence that red is first is that the PREVIOUS butlers record on Phila (it's jean wells backed by the butlers and charles earland, it's one number earlier) is red print.
November 9, 200816 yr i do agree the easy option is to say that the red text copies were withdrawn because of the mispelt artist credit and then correct it on the blue copies.it sold very well in philadelphia so they probably let the red text copies out anyway. being a small set up they couldnt afford not to sell them. remember it came out on lost nite and also on the collectables. im just trying to keep an open mind on the first issue 2nd issue talk because some people assume the harder release is always the first issue and that aint right. all phil la copies are original anyway. dave

But also, the previous number on the label also came out only on red text.
November 10, 200816 yr Seems logical if the first was miss spelt to press it up on a blue copy so you could see the difference from a mile away without reading each record individually. So this theory would backup the possibility of the first press being red. Edited November 10, 200816 yr by Prophonics 2029
November 10, 200816 yr I thought that the red was first and got withdrawn because it was misspelt the Bulters I can't believe it's not Bulters....I've got the blue one Who cares - it's a great tune and should get played and played until we all get sick of it
November 10, 200816 yr It seems an odd one to bring out on a reissue label. Isnt the blue one a qualifier for Warren's Cheap As Chips night?
November 11, 200816 yr It seems an odd one to bring out on a reissue label. Isnt the blue one a qualifier for Warren's Cheap As Chips night? Probably - criminally underrated tune. Still gives me goosebumps every time I hear the intro and transports me back to a time when unaccompanied women weren't allowed in a public bar in Wigan I'll be playing it at Stafford Rangers in December xx
