HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A MEMBER ON HERE ???
March 2004 for me. Remember back then there was the SSCDT (Soul Source Champion Darts Team) an odd assortment of characters. Who arranged a SSCDT alldayer in Derby (2005) which was a great day out. A couple of them unfortunately no longer with us, Shute (Kev Johnson) and Pikey's Dog (Joe Dutton), RIP.

C30 C60 C90 - will you go?
I would imagine the cost of making tapes would far out weigh any sales profit (if there is any). New vinyl releases are one thing, but for tapes can't see any appeal unless you have a vintage car with original car radio/tape in it.

Royal esquires ???
There's a number of records that recently, in my opinion are being over priced, not just this one. Records that were commonly seen at between £150 to £250, now seem to be listed at £350+. Many now out of the reach of alot of collectors.

Northern Soul/Tamla Motown collection
William, If you could upload a couple of pictures of some of them it would help to get a more accurate valuation. As for selling the collection I'd say try and sell complete to a dealer such as Pete Smith or Chris Anderton. Although this may also depend on condition and if originals or not with regards price. Finally condolences on lose of family member.

Shute. Rest in Peace

Who would I trust?...
Pete Smith, Chris Anderton are two I'd trust.

Buyers Beware , A cautionary Tale
I often use family and friends to make payment, but then its only with regular dealers/sellers that I buy from. If someone I'm not 100% about or a first purchase, I'll add on the 4% to cover fees. I see the 4% as an insurance payment. I'm sorry to hear that @Floydhasn't been refunded and hope he gets his money refunded soon. Personally I wouldn't dream of sending a record in a jiffy bag, stiffeners or not.

JMAuction - 09/06/2021 - Results!
I am continously bemused as to what warrants a record worthy of auction status, when they are commonly seen (listed) as a set sale record. The Drifters at £1000, my dues aren't worth paying that much. Sheer madness. When I see things like that, I ponder whether its worth bothering buying any more records when prices are becoming more and more exaggerated, as my money maybe better spent elsewhere as more and more records become financially unobtainable.

Second Rooms at events ?
Other than Cleethorpes weekender, I haven't been to a two room event in years. Those that I did attend were Soulfusion in Gloucester and one night at Bisley, when they had a modern room. Soulfusion worked well as the three separate rooms had clearly defined different styles. Bisley I spent the evening in the modern room. As much as I like oldies, I sometimes felt at that time, was same tunes played everytime it was on. For approximately the past 10 years been attendIng Teddington (1 room event), which has had different guest djs every month. I would say its predominantly northern, but due to the varied line ups has included a more across the board feel on a number of occasions. I suppose nowadays its dependant on the numbers through the door and how responsive they are to different styles.

Buying habits during Lockdown
I was just pondering if peoples record buying habits have changed during the past year and the current lockdown. Are you buying more records? Are you selling more? Are you buying certain styles? Are you buying more new releases than previously? Or any other observations? I've found myself buying more albums these being mainly the recent Kent LP releases and a few of the recent Brunswick reissues put out by Demon group. Not going out and hearing stuff has had a slight impact on the amount of singles I'd normally purchase. I cant seem to enjoy some of these live feeds that some put on Facebook, not the same on a mobile as being out in a crowd. Like I say it was just a thought going around my head at the moment and thought it maybe interesting to some.

What is your first record purchase of 2021?
Two Kent Lps, New Breed RnB and Maxine Brown (The Wand Years), plus a new turntable to play them on.
