  4. I was just about to write the same thing Tony. That was where I first heard it and got one shortly after. Val was a great dj.
  5. About 30 odd US imports in a Brisbane record shop in 97, some crackers! 50c each. A run of Hotlanta 45s in a junk shop in Hobart that same year! ATB Jim.
  6. I've only ever missed two as I was out of the country. Cleethorpes has been a permanant fixture on my calendar for all those years through births, deaths, marriages, jobs and the odd record purchase. Nothing else has come close for music, entertainment, venue and bacon rolls in the cafe at 430 in the morning. The live acts over the years have been truly astounding...remember Willie Tee, Bettye Swann, Carl Carlton, HB Barnum..oh, and of course Maxine...et al But its also been a place where real friendships have been forged, some of whom I see only at Cleethorpes and the conversation always picks up right where we left off.. If I'm honest what I'll miss most is the camaraderie of the crazy Sunday night session, without doubt my favourite night of the year, which would never 'work' anywhere else, which if anything tells us to just enjoy the bloody music. If I had to explain you'd never understand! Everytime I hear 'California Montage' I always get a lump in my throat. Truly gutted its probably the last one but hey , 25 events is a helluva thing eh?! I've never followed football, but if I did its akin to my favourite club shutting up shop and calling it a day. Apologies in advance for my emotional state on the Sunday night this year, Ill be a bloody blubbing mess for sure. Thank you for it all A.C.
  7. Ease my mind....... What a record!👍👌
  8. A wonderful read. This record still makes the hair on the back of my gregory stand on end. ATB Jim.
  9. Bobby Lee Fears ' Exodus'. Unplayed copy in original sleeve, attempted to gently push adaptor out after first play....CRACK...! All the way through.. 40 years old, I had it ten minutes and ffd it up!
  10. One of my first compilations. Wonderfully succinct notes from Dave and a cracking tracklist. Paper round money well spent in 1984. Jim.

  19. First memory of Roger was about '87 at nighter organised by Londons chosen mass just off the Strand. He had so many records for sale that night ( boxes of Motown, don't think I'd ever seen so much upto that point). Same at Allanton shortly after, Monitors "Time is passing by" Tobi Lark ×2 all for about 30 notes;) TAC weekenders at Yarmouth 1990/91. He put me onto so many great records on the site radio at that time, as well as deliberately ffing up the " jingles" with great comedic effect;) along with Bickers. Being the first person I heard play Betty Everett " You're falling in love" to a packed Cleethorpes weekender dance floor in 95. Still a wonderful record. Never averse to playing album tracks...a rare breed. Proper person, proper dj
