C & W meets Northern Soul!
Oh was it Bee Gees? I thought it was Trammps. But anyway, that's not the point is it?

C & W meets Northern Soul!
Earliest footage of people line dancing to blackamerican music that I remember is from around 1978....Saturday Night Fever... 😉

Ron Holden. Is there a Challenge stock issue ?
Even though green was probably the predominant colour there are plenty of legit black Challenge 45s around. Knickerbockers, Champs, etc.

X FILES
Now that's something that I've been puzzling about a long time. Not if the Volumes on Pama does exist or not. I think it's established by now it doesn't. But why on earth would somebody fabricate such a fake scan and publish it? For what purpose?

Temptations TMG 587 - test pressing?
A few months ago I bought a job lot of 45s. Among them were ~80 UK Pop demos from the mid 50s to the mid 60s. Most were single sided with an "empty" groove on the flip. This one here looks just like one of those pressings.

RSD
I bagged Penrose Showcase vol II on a lovely picture disc pressing. And am gutted to have missed Johnnie Mae Matthews I have no choice reissue in a lovely looking pic sleeve.

JMAuction - 10/04/2024 - Results!
The times that sweet soul 45s are only bought by US and Japanese collectors are long gone. It's mostly UK and continental Europe collectors increasing the prices these days.

Eddie Billups - Shake off that dream - bootleg?
None of the Seventy Seven copies on Popsike have the same song on both sides. They all have the correct flip "Try something new".

R Soul Magazine
I got a couple of issues stored away somewhere. Will post them here when I find them

Dave Godin 444 label
Just thinking out loud, would Van McCoy have been happy to see his recordings to be released under a different name in the UK back then? I don't think so. He was already a "major" name back then....

Roger Banks did them didn't he?

Mod Beat Rarity - Jimmy Echo - Practice what you preach W/D
JIMMY ECHO - PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH - COLUMBIA W/D £75 ono Very rare and obscure UK only Mod Beat 45. And what a catchy dancer! Admittedly bit cheesy in parts but overall fantastic production in my opinion. Hard to put a price on it. No Discogs entry, therefore no documented sales. Two entries on Popsike, but both from many many years ago. Wasn't able to find any other trace of it. Beautiful condition. Hardly ever played. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Postage from Germany to UK is £8 (£10 tracked) flat. Payment Paypal only. Please PM for further details. jimmy echo.mp3

2x Popcorn obscurities for sale w/ pics and sound files.
Two nice Popcorn obscurities for sale. Not Soul by any means. But yet good productions that feature that certain sound that appeals to Popcorn dancers and collectors alike. As with many Popcorn records both would be way to slow to dance if played at the correct speed. But if you step it up a couple of notches they sound just right. Therefore please note both soundfiles recorded at 45+8 rpm ! BOBBY REBEL - VALLEY OF TEARS - RHM £20 Teenage drama Rock'n'Roll slowie. Looks VG, plays VG+. Bit of wol both sides. BOBBY COLT - A MAN - FORD £40 No doubt, the better of both Bobbys. Big voice, large orchestra. Lovely tune and hunting melody. Only 2 copies on Discogs and they're twice as much. Looks VG, plays VG+. Labels clean. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Postage from Germany to UK is £8 (£10 tracked) flat. Payment Paypal only. Please PM for further details. bobby colt (+8).mp3 bobby rebel (+8).mp3

Manship auction results 20/03
Chalky is spot on. I first heard it in the 90s on a "cheap but quality" tape. Plenty of copies around back then. What really puzzles me, it's not really good. Nice backing but the shrill lead singer is really annoying. At least to me.

Connie Questell unknown tracks
To be honest I don't really get it. These two unknown tracks were unreleased? But they are known and were played? Off acetates? Any chance of some audio clips of them?

Sonny parker - Mr romance HITTS
Please no down talking of "What can I do". This is one of my alltime favourites 😉 According to Wikipedia Freddie Perren moved to the west coast in 1968. So if Sonny Parker was an east coast production it was before that year. For the time being I stick to my theory, mid 60s recordings/release. For what it's worth I find "Mr romance" awful. I've been seeing this on playlists plenty of times and each time I ask myself why.

Sonny parker - Mr romance HITTS
Someone ( @Chalky ?) posted a comment today in the Discogs entry of Sonny Parker. Suggesting this might be a 1973 release based on the fact that the b-side "What can I do" was copyright registered in 1973, whereas the a-side was registered in 1965. In my opinion, it's rather unlikely this was released in 1973. It would have sounded very outdated by then. The commercial success would have been zilch. My theory, both sides were recorded and released in the 60s. And that the b-side wasn't registered before 1973 for whatever reason. Any thoughts on that? There are some stamped matrix details in the run-out but they don't indicate neither the pressing plant nor the release date.

Sandi Sheldon Second Issue on Ebay Current $316.00
The way I understand it you can edit an auction text only when no bid is placed on it. He had added the bit about it being a 2nd issue very early in the timeline of the auction so maybe even before the first bid was placed?

Brice Cofield - ain't that right
Omen was part of A&M records. And allegedly Brice Coefield came with an A&M company sleeve originally. So not unlikely one's brain can play some tricks and gets you thinking it came out on A&M.

Little Johnny Hamilton - Oh How I Love You
