  1. I remember getting lists from somebody who called themselves 'Soul Control' in 1971, they used to auction records but I don't think anything went for more than about £2.
  2. Linda Jones is the queen of soul, to me anyway. Gladys and Aretha close behind
  3. I think Amazon sell them
  4. He was deffinately on at Leeds, my biggest memory of the place was the fkn awful sound system. I went to see him on Colwyn Bay Pier in '74/'74 but the bouncers threw me out before he came on.
  5. I remember the first DG column I read, when he ended with the 'do what's right, not what's white'. Always the first page I turned to when I got my Blues and Soul.
  6. I've had a pair of USA made Bass weejuns for about 30 years now, ok I don't wear them that often but they still look great.
  7. Good version of 'This time tomorrow' by the Sisters Love, if I remember rightly.
  8. One of the first tunes I can remember as a 14 year old in 1970 was Que Sera Sera by the High Keys, I still like it now although I haven't heard it played anywhere since then. I always assumed it was an old Wheel tune, maybe somebody could put me right on this.

Plenty of girls dressed like that at nighters in the mid 70's and it didn't look too bad on a young fit female, don't remember many girls with tatoos though.

70's fashions and middle aged men (and women), not a good mix is it? His son thinks he's cool though.

always did weetabix myself, the comedowns weren't so bad
  13. me too.
  14. Funny you should say that because the one that Pete hates, Baby Reconsider was one of my favourite records for many years. Bought it on a Soul Sounds boot in '71 I think, always thought I'd get an original one day to replace it but never did.
  15. Ray Merrell - Tears of Joy, sounds promising for a few seconds then sounds like Val Doonican till the end. Shit record.
  16. Great singer if you're into middle of the road pop, but it doesn't belong on here.
  17. Yes I had a red one, then lost it and used any I could get hold of after that.
  18. Back from the dead - Bobby Byrd

It got played at our local soul club (Paynes in Llandudno) as a new release, don't know about anywhere else, great tune btw. Another I remember as a 14 year old was Kool and the Gang by Kool and the Gang.
  20. No I'm a soul fan, I like it all.
  21. Yes thats right, black leather driving gloves, got some strange looks off people at the time
  22. Kev didn't DJ at the first Casino allnighter did he? it was a few weeks later when he started.
  23. Mine were dumped in a drawer for 20 odd years until I sold them on ebay, think I got about 30 quid each for them. I sold 2 to a guy in Italy.
  24. 2 lace holes on comos as I remember, but might be wrong.
  25. I'd love to find some comos, I've been looking for years. I know someone who found a brand new, still in the box pair in a charity shop back in the 80's, my size too, the lucky sod.
