  1. Priority... but not by long.
  2. What ? Is someone implying that these are not send to radios, music critics and dj's as promoting freebees before we get to buy them from the record stores shelves ? That they are sold first hand at a higher price !? What idiot would fall for that ? 🤖 Remember early 1990's using to laugh at major ""artists"" fans rushing into the shops to pay stupid money for pre-paid 'numbered' limited new releases... The world is a small place, time is a loop and glory fades quickly. I much prefer the scene back then.
  3. Reputed 'rarer' on issue (IMO a dealer argument) than on demo but to this day I've seen as many of both in any condition with super worthy clean copies being rarer regardless. Real value should be even for both OG release. Popsike show 18 demos for 14 stockers from the eVilBay completed auctions. And discogs show 2 demos for 4 issues in their pasts sales. Price is hard to call; real clean £500-£1.000. Fantastic oldie & collector but booted...
  4. Original versions of both sides of these enigmatic 'Stoppers' yet fantastic group are from two Roddie Joy 45's on Red Bird. Thee Midniters were often covering stuffs. Likely they covered Roddie here...
  5. OK, right. I only looked at the back cover... Yes most likely then. I would guess a pressing plant issue of some sort...
  6. OK, strange thing is that German 45 Vogue pressings exists. In Belgium and Holland it was a practice to give a "local" picture sleeve but then for some reasons mostly within either each other country pressings or with UK import 45's. Vogue is a French label that got releases in many 'European' countries through the sixties. If ever there was an issue with the German pressing plant they could easily have imported batches of the French 45 to forward the national release. Now what is puzzling some if that was the case is that the German catalog number appears on the sleeve but the French 45 stands uncorrected. Even in our Kingdoms (BE & NL) a sticker was then applied on the label most of the time...
  7. May we see the german picture sleeve ?
  8. Well here's both sides of my demo copy. Maybe better but not by a mile... y.mp3
  9. Here's a mp3 I did earlier this year of a spare stocker I had in VG condition (with crackles more audible on the 'now I'm in trouble' side. How does this compare to yours ? ambers verve.mp3
  10. Have my demo and have had stockers in various conditions all playing without major issues from memory. A bit of a Lo-Fi mastering job demanding to 'push-up' the volume to squeeze out some juice from it. Bringing the orchestral mayhem to saturation some. Especially during the horns and strings 'charge'. Bizarre delight 🙉 Unless your copy is one of those that 'looks supreficially' clean but has suffered one of those dreaded groove 'polish' to eliminate surface damage visualy as sonically. That will eliminate most surface 'snap, crackle & pop'. But also make the playback sound thiner with a constant hissing background 'floor noise'. Could it be that ?
  11. Bobby Cutchins any time for me !!! Sings, feels & groove in tune with soul much ease with the tune. Jesse is more a tricky piece of disco re-work requiring to figure out what happened to the tune... Evidently this second verse is a less simple or a happy tale to my ears. Musically at least.
  12. Got my first copy before ever hearing it home. The 'groovy generation' title appeal invited me to play that side first. And there the piano, bass, drum, horns and handclaps introduction blast out of the speakers instantly brought me to heaven ! Billy's preaching was so convincing, it helped me to 'overpass' those teeny vindictive lyrics. That side still remain a found memory from the first time and is my 'preference' or my 'hit' side if you will. But with time I dwelled more and more often during my music session home into 'sweet things' for a 'funkier' and somehow more 'soulful' 2 minutes experience. King of a 2 sider record anyway from a fantastic typical collectable label.
  13. Previously unissued RCA gear then Kent comped on cd.
  14. Great singer yet odd ball 'POP'artist that in my younger days I had trouble to 'picture' and set in the whole 'true soul' frame but with time I got to appreciate for what he is/was in and/or out of the blue eyed soul hall of 'frame'. None the less s-o-u-l. Now I know. Lately I even had to re-purchase 2 of his singles that kept on haunting my showers humming moments; 'you baby' and 'I struck it rich'. They often hit my desk home. Now '1-2-3' & 'it's a cryin' shame' blasts memories out of the past. + R.I.P. Len Barry I'll always love you...
  15. His harder single on on the label. Half the price of a Mint copy but a strong player none the less. High resolution scans and sound clips of both sides from the actual record offered here for sale. run for my life.mp3 £130 FREE SHIPPING ALL OVER THE WORLD. ADD £6 TO HAVE IT REGISTERED. Grading through M - EX - VG - G... PM me to inquire
  16. One voice, load of compositions and many devotees. R.I.P. the pain-ter +
  17. Confusingly named Andy like the famous variety singer, accompanied by a Zodiacs group (like Maurice Williams) this Andy of 'darker' shade arranged by an oddly named John Lemon guy provides... Crossover soul ! Look & listen to scans & mp3 from actual record. Looks VG++ (scuffs/wear) but plays barely the same as M- copies. andy williams.mp3 £50 FREE SHIPPING ALL OVER THE WORLD. ADD £6 TO HAVE IT REGISTERED. Grading through M - EX - VG - G... PM me to inquire
  18. Worse than he did there and then... ? 🥶😪😉 ...
  19. Far from being a favorite singer of mine but although I have some of his records (M-G-M, Argo, Janus) his involvement in 'black' music is something. His approach might be too much on the 'pop'-y side. None the less he was a serious 'supporter/promoter' for many artists... RIP !
  20. Have vague memories of reading that she was related with someone at One-derful... Was she ?
  21. Thanks Mal, I could find Mark O'Shaughnessy (Resolution records) but not his listing on 'Cogs but that ex-copy of yours is not offered on sale there. I await a JW copy as well. Nice vanity label variant. The IPG label I do not like one bit. Only I wanted to compare both mastering job on this very one.
  22. Oh yes indeed it id a different take to the Saints's cut on close listening. Good for pointing that out. I do like the Saints broader musical treatment in depth and production better. But to reach his/hers.
  23. Yes indeed many popular songs that are at the "base" of our early days into record collecting. For example one for me that I still play (out as well) from time to time is Jackie Shane 'comin' down'. R.I.P.
  24. Anyone with a very clean (vinyl not styrene) copy to let go ? Please PM me
  25. Always been since my teens to this day a very strong firm favorite in my heart and on my deck. What a fabulous cheap and cheerful beautiful 45 to look and listen to. Every home should have one. FWIW I am certain that her singing was taken over/re-recorded to give that slight off-sync/off-set vocal shrill effect and allowing her own choruses/answers/echoes toward the end to great effect IMO.
