  1. You can imagine this live, with the place kicking.
  2. Am I the only one who thinks the world has gone mad when someone can bid/pay absurd sums of money for a piece of vinyl with everything else that is going on? Irrespective of whether good/bad/rare.

A one of a kind. His live at Carnegie Hall LP is as good as any live recording I have ever heard. Saw him live myself after Lovely Day was a hit, he did not disappoint and came across as a truly nice man, heading to put on a certain LP. RIP
  4. You could always go a bit further afield. https://soultraincruise.com/
  5. But you weren't 50+ with lots of disposable income. Not my idea of fun , but nothing to get wound up about.
  6. Started with my 2 favs from Otis a true soul giant in my eyes

Nothing according to my better half!!
  9. I worked with someone back in the early 80's who was not into club music in anyway, but used to come out with a bunch of us from work and listened to his own walkman, whilst on the dance floor, a man ahead of his time!
  10. Not sure bad dancer's can have the soul but look worse than someone who can dance but don't have the soul. Having said that it doesn't really matter, folks will go where they are happiest. Personally gave up going out a while back.
  11. Not sure I agree. Having seen vids online of the NS film, dance classes. shows any dance instructor can teach others, obviously those who can dance make it look easier.
  12. Not quite the case, she played R Stones UMT and someone emailed/text whatever and said it was a NS classic.
  13. I think the fact they seem to have so much room, makes some pose rather than dance to what's playing.
  14. Many thanks for sharing. One of my favourite songs ever, and this is a hell of a cover.

Many thanks for the heads up. I picked it up on release but never thought it was worth much until someone said £100+ recently, but I thought they were being hopeful.

Current price for Hey Pretty Boy please. Many thanks.
  17. Everything I sing according to the Mrs. They all sound Crap!!!!
  18. I agree the Hammersmith gig would be in my top 5. Saw Al Green there, late on very mixed bag, too much gospel, but still signs of inner brilliance.
  19. Just found this thread whilst chilling on a Sunday. 1st concert I ever went to was Chi-Lites/Detroit Emeralds & Delfonics at Reading Top Rank either 73 or 74. Chi-Lites were excellent, Delfonics good dancers, poor singers Detroit Emeralds average at best.
  20. A top DJ and man, spent many a lunch hour chatting to him in Bens/Collectors records in Guildford.

Really!!!! Given the criteria for the honour I would like to know who you think they are?
  22. When thinking of Stevie, the first thing that comes to my mind is he will be seen as the equivalent of Bach/Beethoven etc in hundreds of years time. His catalogue is unbelievable and he also puts on one of the best live shows in the business. Current faves are 'Something Out Of The Blue', 'Black Man' 'As', 'Knocks Me Off My Feet'.

Is is available for download until 16 April on catch up in Sky Arts.
  24. Funny enough my main memories of the Cap, are watching the second Ali/Frazier, a dodgy pinball where if you wacked the machine in the right place it nearly always gave you a replay, scotters all over the playground and the Matador by Major Lance.
