  1. Edwin Starr, first time I saw him at Tiffanies Durdham Down, Bristol 1975, and Kings Hall Stoke when he sang acapella due to backing tape problems late 90's, and sadly the last time I saw him....Junior Walker 1977(8)? at Tiffanies Newport, when my faith in God was restored, having had to miss the Wigan performance due to "fund shortages", and coming across his pending performance in my "hometown" by pure quirk of fate (poster displayed in shop window)!Sam Dees,at the Canal Tavern Thorne late 80's,(awesome) and the Funk Brothers at the Manchester Apollo, a few years ago, all very special and memorable occasions that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up................. and made me feel both very humble and moreover grateful for being there!

  4. For too numerous reasons to mention, particularly more recently, my Soulcial life has been temporarily curtailed, however I must say that the two venues to" float my boat" 2009 were namely Burnley, and Lifeline
  5. Hi Richard, I'm quite certain I've a similar stamped sleeve within my own collection, along with a personal greeting slip of similar design, although I was of the opinion that the relevance of such was purely on personal lines rather than commercially aimed.....I may however stand corrected? Best wilxy
  6. Roll on 25th January, keep up the good work Ady

Fond memories of a great venue I had the pleasure of attending on several occasions in the mid seventies ......Happy Days
  8. I remember the Bristol Hotel very well, was interviewed along with my ex-wife on the way in for said (video)/ DVD recording I wouldn't recognise myself if I hadn't had a speaking part .....Great days, also loved the Roundabout and the YMCA venues......"Proper Northern"
  9. Pete, There are some superb people on this site, who disclaim credit for their thoughtfulness and sincerity, for which this world would be a much better place if multiplied! Credit to you for recognising John's plight, whom I hold in very high regard and without realising the seriousness of his personal situation to such degree! I hope that your kind request has sufficient effect and has the desired outcome, so have replied accordingly....Best wishes wilxy
  10. What a very thoughtful and unselfish gesture.....Sincere good wishes to you fella!
  11. Bari Track, and the Gallop spring to mind........
  12. Acquired a copy today, from Des Parker and whilst he gave me some info with regard the vocals, and Dee Edwards etc. and having heard an (IMHO) inferior version, by a duet who've now slipped my mind (he also told me who the duet were, but alas I'm going senile ) Can anyone give me any information on the Dee Wolf Prod Inc label, and moreover its original whereabouts etc. TIA wilxy
  13. Ged, tell him to cut to the chaste, and insist he's an OVO guy, and would a 7 inch version of the snake do for starters, would also suggest he wears a hard hat and gumshield in case of a negative response
  14. I would love to see Deon Jackson perform live.....although I appreciate there's very little chance of it ever happening
  15. Dust my broom-Ike & Tina turner......
  16. I'd like to add to previous posts....respect to you fella
  17. Thanx for the info deeve.......... can't wait for the book! cheers wilxy
  18. A few come to mind......Cochise- Paul Humphrey, Green door-Wynder K. Frogg, Witchunt-Dezro orchestra......OK in their day....but embarrassingly cringeworthy in wilxyworld nowadays
  19. Great thread Russ, with some equally valued and respected input, and whilst individually many of the titles suggested are mouthwatering in their own right, rewind 35 years or so, and the mind boggles .Appreciating the playlists back then contained both good and some bad on the ear tuneage.....IMHO a "fly on the wall" back in time session would be the best way to gauge such rightful "debate" ...... best wilxy
  20. Webby, is this a honey trap? and furthermore are you undercover Inland Revenue?
  21. It was a great tune in its day irrespective of assumed sub-genre.....along with numerous other titles of similarly assumed sub-genre
